Well I've only had a chance to test one movie so far, but first impressions are excellent! I wasn't able to play the disc in menu mode (will make a full list my discs and what the results are once I get back from vacation.. gotta keep the wife happy :) ), but playing in title mode worked perfect. What I noticed first was that playing the disc was MUCH faster than I've ever been able to play a bluray on the PC before. Normally programs spend 30-60 seconds loading the discs before it starts to play anything, and this didn't have that problem. It was only 1-2 seconds after I selected the title that it started playing.

Definitely a nice improvement over all the commercial apps I've ever used!

    Version 5
Changes (only major ones listed - full change list available in GIT history):
    • Fixed subtilte timing being wrong in many cases
    • Fixed seamless branching BDs causing discontinuites in the audio stream
    • Fixed downstream filters not flushed on user interaction caused clip change
    • Fixed a random crash in the subtitle decoder when seeking
    • Fixed clock continuing to run while in pause
    • Fixed audio selection in menu mode
    • Implemented preferred audio type for title mode
    Known generic issues:
    • Blu-ray subtitles can be left hanging over the root menu in some cases
    • Sometimes a wrong fps is detected by EVR renderer
    • Initial seek to 0:00 wont work
    Download

Please, download and test + report back the findings. MediaPortal 1.3.0 alpha deadline for new features is creeping quite close and we don't yet have enough test results that would allow us to include the BD support in the next MP version.

OK I'm probably missing something but I just get "Unable to play: index.bdmv" when trying to play my BDs.

I uninstalled MP 1.2.3, then installed the version in this thread. I also have Arcsoft MediaTheatre installed (which should decrypt the BDs, as I understand it).

The Arcsoft MediaTheatre software can decrypt a Blu-Ray for itself, but not for other applications. For that you need AnyDVD HD or DVDfab Passkey for Blu-Ray.

Ah, OK. I've installed DVDFab Passkey. Here's the results for the 3 discs I have to hand:

    (1) Austin Powers (International Cut): Works fine.
    (2) Billy Connolly: Live in London 2010: When I choose to play the main title from the MP pop-up menu, it just loads forever. HDD and BD-RE lights are stuck on, yet the Resource Monitor shows no process reading/writing heavily from/to the HDD.
    (3) Red Dwarf: Back to Earth: Same as (2).

MPC-HC plays all these discs fine. I'm using LAV Video Decoder and ffdshow Audio Decoder, if that helps.

Also, is it really meant to take ~30 seconds between clicking "play disc" and the title menu popping up (even if the decryption was done beforehand)?

New to HD and Blu Ray here, so installed this release on my test machine. CPU AMD XP 1.8, GPU HD4650 @AGPx4, VISTA 32. LAV latest release.

Only two BLURAYS at the moment which i have rip'd to HD .( I know they play fine but limited to main feature only from just the index files on my main system )

RUSH - SNAKES AND ARROWS LIVE. 1080P60 simply stunning.
RUSH - TIME MACHINE TOUR. 1080P24.

Both work without issue; main menu, extras, scene selection and audio selection. Couldn't test subs as I couldn't find that they are availabe on the discs.

Only comment I have is the selection for 'popup menu and root menu' within the ACTIONS wasn't available when whatching the discs extras.

Although there is a menu for CHAPTERS available from the ACTIONS the only personal change would be to have NEXT and PREVIOUS chapter available in ACTIONS aswell.

Many thanks for all your hard work on this excellent addition to MP.(y)

Could you provide samples of these BDs?

All the delay that is happening before the popup menu is available is mainly coming from the libbliray. There has been some talk with libbluray devs that there would be some caching added at some point so the loading times on complex BD titles would get faster.

Subtitles aren't usually available on music BDs - but please provide the BDReader.log of either of the disks and I'll check if they have subtitles.

    Also please update the wiki.

Could be a bug as I doubt that the disk has those disabled on purpose. Feel free to upload a sample.

Prev and next chapters are already availbe as keyboard / remote shortcuts. F7/F8.
