Hello all! I've been a long time user of Media Portal, but gave up on it a year ago do to complications of setting up OTA HD. Recently, MCE2005 lost all of my channels and all attempts to view them failed. So, I came back to MP and was pleased with the changes to the installation process. Everything works and I had TV within minutes.

Everything is working nicely, but I wanted to get the EPG up and running and this is when my problems began. I read the manual and apparently it's written for an older version of MP, back when the TV plugin was used as opposed to the server. At any rate, I haven't been able to get it to work. After several days of spending an hour or two, I finally made some headway. Apparently, the webepg program was trying to save my tvguide.xml file to:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv

I was expecting it to save to:

C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv

I moved the xmltv files to the correct directory and ran webepg (after running the webepg config) to generate the tvguide.xml file. The file generated immediately, but is only 1kb. When I go to the xmlTV plugin and import, it says:

Total channels imported: 6
Total programs imported: 0
Import status: tvguide.xml: No programs found;

I'm only trying to import 6 channels and 2days of programming to get a feel for it, but it hasn't been cooperating. Any suggestions as to what I could be doing incorrectly?

- Make sure you add/create a new WebEPG xml (don't import/use a old one) by adding (or importing) channels in WebEPG.
- Everything should be in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv/WebEPG
- Follow wiki TV-Server/Configuration/Plugins/XmlTv - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation
- PS: After setting path - hit [OK] and re-enter TV-server Config, then map and import

It takes a while for WebEPG to download the tvguide.xml, for me about 3-4 minutes or so.

Goto Plugins-xmltv,
On mappings page select 'load/refresh' then save.
Should work ok then.

Well, it's still not working and I'm pretty sure it has something to do with the TVguide.xml file. I'm just trying to import a few channels for now (6), just to get an idea of how it works. Here is what I have done:

Still, when I click on import, I am told, "tvguide.xml:No programs found;". Any ideas?

Make sure xmltv plugin is looking for tvguide.xml at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv.
Generate new file with webepg, check the updated tvguide.xml and .dtd files are at that location then follow my previous post, finally click on import.

screenshot in helptext is misleading

It may help some users who are reporting EPG problems to know the screenshot depicted in the help-text can be mis-leading. On my XP installation, I was trying to use the directory as the EPG help-guide (TV-Server/Configuration/Plugins/XmlTv - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation)

C:\program files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv

As it turns out, I should have been pointing to the directory of

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users.WINDOWS\Application Data\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\xmltv
(will be hidden for some)

Not running Vista atm, but I would guess that they would be using a different directory again. (?)

One helpful poster suggested the OP copy the XMLTV.DTD file to the program files directory, which I had no luck with at all and reverted to using the 2nd folder above. (source: https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/installation-configuration-support-53/no-xmltv-dtd-file-45032/)

If anybody can point me towards the latest WebEPG guide, it'd be a kthxbi for you. is it the wiki one? its not current for RC2? Reading through the forums, seems to be a lot of the same mis-understandings is all.
BTW - Maybe worth adding a tip if it hasn't already been done ( I didn't find it ) ... a simple how-to for checking the tvguide.xml data and/or WebEPG logs to ensure WebEPG is doing ok... theres no notification as we all know.

All in all, the WebEPG program DOES work!

So I check the logs (again c:\doc&sets as above) and read through my tvguide.xml ... determining WebEPG is actually doing its job on command... but the RC2 WebEPG Grabber data for AUSTRALIA is out of date for the "minnie.tuhs.org" listing. It's moved domains (source: WebHome < Main < TWiki)

So my next step, if anybody can give guidance, will be finalising the EPG and possibly looking at customizing my grabber for AUS. Hopefully the alternate listing, of which there is only 1, works (personal gripe - How come ABC can deliver its TvGuide directly and our other primary tv networks don't appear too?)

EDIT: Just found this xmltv utility which seems to do the trick ... may be useful for some "http://forum.epgstream.net/viewforum.php?f=56". Any aussies got their EPG flowing, let me know your setup! ciao
