Got HTPC running again and did some testing. Seeking doesn't mess sync up anymore. BUT offset depends on codec. Found out that MPV and Purevideo displayed teletext-subs 500ms late and PowerDVD 7 SP displayed subs about 2 sec early.

When you look at the clip on VLC, timing is perfect but there are other issues like other language subs flashing briefly when new subs get displayed. So there could be something wrong on that providers way of delivering subs too.. Too bad standards aren't followed that strictly.

Only Teletext Subs out of TsWriter

    Hello,
Could someone confirm that when watching UK BBC1 I should be getting both teletext and DVB Subs?
Teletext subs work fine both on live TV and on recordings, but there are no DVB subs, neither using Mediaportal and TsReader, nor using VLC (also only teletext).
Clips that I have downloaded from the ftp site (BBC recording) display both types of subtiles using the "L" key, so I think my TSReader side is correctly set up.
    Thanks for any help

    Subtitles not showing

    Hello.

I have vista ultimate, tv3 rev16504 & mp rev16511. I have done everything according to guide in the first page, There is empty usetsReader.txt in c:\ and mediaportal dvbsub2 is enabled from tvpost processing and mediaportal.xml in program data\team mediaportal\mediaportal directory has

    "
MediaPortal DVBSub2

yes
"
Subtitles used to work when I used about 2 months old svn's. They stopped working after updating to these revisions. Nothing happens when I press L.

Here is my log. Is problem about timings?? What can I do?

    Br, testimies

Since you are using Vista, I'd suspect you've got your Mediaportaldirs.xml pointing into wrong directories. It get's overwritten on SVN updates and then it doesn't point into ProgramData folder anymore (like it should on Vista). In case you don't have a backup, you can find a proper file here.

    "
MediaPortal DVBSub2

yes
"

This was new for me. Is this really needed? Do I get any benefit by adding this to post processing section on Mediaportal configuration? Do I miss something when not having this filter marked as post processing filter?
There was no mention on first page about this. Something Vista related?

No it's not needed and SHOULDN'T be done! That would only cause the DVB subtitle filter to be inserted twice in the running graph and could confuse the graph rebuilding or something else. At least it's not helping in any way.

A small update on what i am doing regarding teletext:

I am now using another way of syncing the subtitles, however on my samples it seems to deliver subs a bit too early (not critically so however, the sub stays until the speaker is finished). It will have to be tested to determine if its precise enough. I have also discovered a small bug that meant that i wasnt catching the rare cases were the subtitle data actually contains timing information.

Finally i have been testing auto selection of subtitle streams, and i just need a small change in the DVB subtitle implementation before its ready for you to try out.

The conclusion is that i wont be able to wrap up these changes this weekend, so you will have to live with the current teletext subs a bit longer.

    In Changelog I can find following statement;
tourette TVE3 changed TsReader to be the default source filter for .ts files (dropped support for TSFileSource.ax)

So, does this mean that file useTsreader.txt is not needed in C: root anymore?
will not propably do any harm to keep it there anyway.

I already tested renaming usetsreader to something else and tsreader is still used. And subs are still beeing displayed nicely. So as I see it, that empty file is no longer needed.

Don't know if I've found a bug or if it's due to the fact that I don't have "Rebuild graph on channel change" enabled.

    This is what happends:
    1. Turn on "Canal+", turn on the swedish teletext subtitles - OK
    2. Switch channel to "History", now when I flicker through the avalable subtitles I have the pages from Canal+ and History.

I've attached my MediaPortal.log which shows this.

    Running latest TVE3 SVN + 0.2.3 "Final".
