This may be a dumb question, but I'm still using MP 0.1.3.0 and as soon as my new HDTV comes in this week (STOKED) I'm planning to upgrade to 0.2. I was going to go to 0.2.0.4, but this seems like such a huge improvement (over 0.1.3.0 at least) that I'm considering going to a SVN build instead. So I guess I'm asking is it worth it? Is everything else pretty stable in the SVN builds? Also, how does this new music engine work with a really big library (90 gigs organized by itunes but no DRM). I never used the MP music engine before because it was just too slow, but this looks really promising. I guess that last one is my biggest question, has anybody tested this with a very big music library?

SVN build stability varies from snapshot to snapshot so you may want to wait until the next "stable" patch is released.

Oh oh oh  Steve. With this music enginge, y yo you ....

did really great job. it's fantastic. the faders, the vis options the new now playing. I can't believe it.

The BASS is wow, i read something about it in the other thread where you search for ideas and visited their website. The 'main feature' list is so long and this is really crazy: "Small - BASS is less than 100KB*, so won't bloat your distribution". i think without addons, but it is a very smart piece of software. :D :D :D :D :D

Some question: i have nforce audio onboard, so ever i choose wmp as player all 6 speakers sent music. is this yet not possible with internal or what i have to do?

    will now test latest svn.

Again: THANKS Steve this is really great. I ll looking forward to the new tagreader. But after time to time you should take a pause. :D

    Best Regards
    chefkoch

One thin yet: Have files with year-tag: 2002-12-01 new tagreader was able to, right? does not remember me.

Steve I'm getting a few odd things happen which I guess is to do with the tag engine. I was listening to Wu Tang or something earlier & had a number of tracks come up saying "tagged as Rap" from bands like cold play & Thin Lizzy! Any idea why this might be?

Also when these tracks come up & you click them, any chance you could have an on screen prompt or a confirmation to add to playlist - I clicked away on the same song 15 or so times before realising what is was doing. In addition to this point, could you somehow pull up a pop up if someone adds the same track twice in a playlist?

I assume that this was on the "Now playing" screeen? If so you may want to have a look at the Audioscrobbler plugin thread being worked on by rtv.

    Hello,
Well, it could be great, if possible, to have a post-processing option in mymusic.
(same as in mymovies, mytv, etc...)
So, it would be possible to use, for example, ffdshow audio décoder and, to convert audio stream in AC3 mode for external receiver.
Actually, I use directshow to do that, so, I loose visualization of internal player.

    Regards.

I'm not really sure how we might do this or if it's even possible. I may take a look at it at some later time but for the time being it's not supported.

Would it be possible to integrate Skip steps (like we have them for MyTV and MyVideos) displayed when visualization in fullscreen?

with smaler values (+5sec, 15sec, 30sec, 1 minute ect.) but with a similar visual appearance including a timeline.

    I have two problems .

One is cpu usage which reaches 100% of a single cpu (dual MP 2000) with VIZ on using 'alchemy' (the only VIZ loaded) and as MP never normaly goes above 15% unless heavy EPG database use this is a concern.

Is there any hardware accelreration for the VIZ or do I need to download other VIZ types ?

The other may not be your engine but all FLAC titles loose their names and go to 'unknown - unknown' after playing the first track.

Anyway keep up the great work, much apreciated.

Prior to the release of the new music engine, WMP Visualizations in MP were rendered to fairly small window and "zoomed" to fit your display rez. Unfortunately, rendering visualizations is very cpu intensive and there's not much that can be done to change that. You may, however, try disabling the "Enable status display in fullscreen mode (fast systems only)" option in Configuration.exe-->Music-->Visualizations.

You may also want to try downloading the trial version of G-Force to see if that works better for you.

Regarding FLAC; was this working properly prior to the release of the new music engine?

We should be able to--I'll have a look at it. Note, however, that graphics would only be shown if the "Enable status display in fullscreen mode (fast systems only)" option was enabled.
