Do you have a log file created by AMCUpdater (AMCUpdater_Log.txt in the same directory as amcupdater.exe) ?
If it exist, delete it and relaunch the update thru MP to see if a new file is created. Can you send me that file ?

I've verified, AMC Updater doesn't create a log file
It crash soon afert I click on the update database menu entry

Do you give the correct path to the amcupdater.exe file and a correct settings file in the setup ?
Can you try to launch amcupdater in batch mode (in a command dos windows launch amcupdater.exe followed by the settings file) ?
Are you on vista OS ?
Can you add your errorl.log and MediaPortal.log when it crash ?

Does it work for somebody else ?

In batch mode (i've made a shortcut on my Desktop with a config file) it works fine....

Even with the newest version my covers still look chopped off. Is it a skinning error or am I doing something wrong?

You use the Indigo skin as I can see and that skin is not already supported by MyFilms v4.7
Only skins delivered in the mpi package have been modified for MyFilms 4.7

Try with a supported skin and ask to the skin developper to enhance the Indigo files.

a few questions... i'm using blue3(4x3).

1. can you make the discription text a little bit bigger? i would say its a bit too small.
2. in all views the stars run into the text. is that normal? could you fix that?
3. are there some screenshots from blue3 with logos? does blue3 support logos?
4. are there any screenshots from using logos in myfilms? have no plan how it would look.
