what it the "new observer method"? and why would it not work

from my server logs:
2008-05-23 21:21:13.484375 [20]: card: WaitForTimeShiftFile - waiting _eventAudio & _eventVideo
2008-05-23 21:21:17.234375 [20]: card: WaitForTimeShiftFile - new observer based method didn't work, using the old one as fall back!

I think the old one also failed (though it didn't explicitly say that)

Just some debug logging. TsWriter's internal audio & video observers didnt receive notify that there would be any data in the video / audio PIDs. Old method monitors only the .ts file size (and is slower and not as precise as for example subtitle data could eventually trigger the audio / video seen event). Old method is tried just to be safe that it wasnt the new code (almost 6 months old now) that had some issue.

So if thats fine, then what is my problem (or mor importantly, how do I fix it)? I did a prieview on an analogue channel and that looked like the only error in the log (full log attached) I got no prieview and just a message box saying "preview failed:noVideoAudioDetected"?

yes but it also says the signal was 100%, therefor it should receive plenty of data.

lots of times, and I have checked the frequencys come out the same as other working software. I think the same problem is causing my radio not to work and I have scaned it a few times but the TV is more important so I have mostly concentrated on that.

Please past all your logs from a failed attempt to preview. i.e. delete all tvserver logs, attempt preview, post logs :)

I'm not realy shure what happens here but these attached logs are from a servece startup and then a failed preview, but they say almost nothing at all. I would suguest you use the on from a few posts back, at least is has some details in it.

this was realy the entire contents of my log directory, only deleted once before I killed and restarted the service, before I tried to preview.
