Re: [New Plugin] WebServices + Transcoded streaming + Web Interface for TvServer and

Gday Gemx - Great Plugin mate - well done -

I have the service up and running and able to hook in from within my network. Unfortunately unable to log in from internet.

I have set up dyndns to have a internet address directed to my IP. I have opened the required ports and have assigned them in MPTV server plugin options.

path is coprrect - green light for port but for some reason can't get access from outside my network.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Gday guys just an update on what I've done so far and a bit more info on my setup.

I have Windows XP SP3, Zonealarm - ports opened (disabled when trying to access from internet) Dlink DSL-G604T (sertup vitrual server and added filters - configured TCP/UDP ports and checked firewall not preventing access (used PFPortchecker to verify that port 8080 is open.) - mediaportal-svn-12-24-2009-16-14-Rev24553, MPWEBSERVICES RC1.

Checked - no other application is using port 8080. I have followed all steps from portforward.com to configure my router for port 8080. MP TV server ports setup.

I have created dyndns account for bla bla....is-a-geek.org forwarded to bla bla....isa-geek.net with ip address 6.........:8080 as the recievingg host (but have also tested by directly using ipaddress:8080 as well. I have also adjusted localhosts file to accomodate both dns webhops. But still no luck - Am I missing something here?

Cheers

Re: [New Plugin] WebServices + Transcoded streaming + Web Interface for TvServer and

hi gemx,

your plugin is working now grat here without any crashes :) keep up the grat work!

one feature idea: is it possible for a future version to include paths to local folders with pictures/videos/music instead of the mp databases? this would be great for using the plugin on a dedicated tv-server without the dbs on it. for me i even dont need any thumbs, just a list of the files in the configured folders. and if i click on it its streamed :)

nicx...

    Re: [New Plugin] WebServices + Transcoded streaming + Web Interface for TvServer and

    Hi gemx,

    as a lot of people said: great plugin, many thx. :):)

    A few suggestions/feature requests if I may:
    • Log mencoder/etc. output to file or tab in the plugin configuration (whenever I start a stream I get a "interactive service session" popup)
    • Is it possible to also stream a buffer? Currently I can't seek within the stream. Teletext would be nice but I guess that's impossible ;)
    • Can you include mencoder with the installer or ask for mencoder path during install?
    • A hierarchical view (series->season->episode) for tvseries
    • Make artwork (movie poster/episode banners/etc.) available for MovingPictures and TvSeries
    • Add start/stop webservice buttons (I want to be able to start/stop the webservice independent from the tv service)
    • Do you have a documentation of your webservices/the source of the plugin available somewhere?

    Flowplayer
    I talked about flowplayer before but after a few test I think this could add great value for your project. Flowplayer is a free youtube-like flash player that can stream flv files. I did some testing on flv-conversion with mencoder and while it's not perfect (yet) I think it can easily be done. There's even a page on their hp for conversion using ffmpeg -> Flowplayer - Flash Video Player for the Web

    How cool would it be to have a personal youtube with all my home media, accessible from anywhere in the world? ;)

    :D

    Re: [New Plugin] WebServices + Transcoded streaming + Web Interface for TvServer and

    Will see what i can/want do.
    Most of your suggestions lead to building whole MP as a web app and that's something i certainly won't do.

    The source are in the mp tools svn https://mp-plugins.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/mp-plugins/trunk/plugins/MediaPortal WebServices

    The webservices are all in ...\App_Code\TvServiceWebServices.asmx.cs

    I´m working on a skin to make it look like MP as a web app:D But I haven´t used C# or ASP.Net yet (HaHa that rymes) so I´m not that far (working on the EPG to make it look like MP´s but struggling a bit with adding Controls @ Run Time).
    What I would really love to see would be an additional "Streaming" Profile: Play @ Client .....
    I think this would need an additional client plugin.
    As you can see I´m still onto my idea of the upcomming tablets as Perfect Remotes.:D
    :Dfor this great plugin

    Re: [New Plugin] WebServices + Transcoded streaming + Web Interface for TvServer and

    My conclusion, nice to have, but not very usefull :(

    Download a streaming.bat at every time is not very userfriendly, a integrated swf player would be helpfull (like this one http://www.longtailvideo.com).

    Also I'll missing a better design like ipimp, folders should work without a movie, picture or music db and it's heavy overloaded....

    ...at the first page you should only see the a tv, music and video selection.

    Then on a second page you need links to watch, record and programm-info. The drop-downs in the folder selection are nice, but also not very usefull if you like to use this by your phone.

    ipimp is in this case much user friendlier, but without a streaming funktion. :( also a remote for mp clients should be included in this plugin, it would be nice to make a all-in-one plugin beetween ipimp and this one, with the design of ipimp.

    I'll can make the html templates and css for you...

    ...but please split the design and the dropdowns :( in different userfriendly pages and DO NOT USE pup-ups or links to a new window for some links :( e.g. for the tv server status, thats horrible.

    EDIT:

    A solution as this page design would be nice:

    TV
    - channel groups
    -- channels (with watch, recording and info links)
    - epg
    - recordings
    - tv server status
    Pictures
    - list of folders
    -- detail view for seleted folder (with links to show)
    Music
    - list of folders
    -- detail view for seleted folder (with links to play)
    - playlists
    Videos
    - list of folders
    -- detail view for seleted folder (with links to play)
    - playlists

    I would appreciate a helping hand in design but - again - please not

    This was never designed to be a productive web app. As i often stated out - this is just a demo to show the possibilities of the webservices i created to control tv service and interface the other databases

    The problem with an embedded flash player is that no one (including me) ever came up with a streaming profile that reliably transcoded .ts files to swf on the fly

    In your opinion :p but as you see many users like this plugin and would like to use it and see more features of it ;). I'll think it's to usefull to show it only as "demo version".

    Embedding a flash player should also not be a problem. You're using htlm code ;) so you can use a flv object like this:

    <object id="player" classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" name="player" width="640" height="360">
    <param name="movie" value="player/player.swf" />
    <param name="allowfullscreen" value="true" />
    <param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always" />
    <param name="flashvars" value="file=mms://192.168.2.101:1234&image=preview.jpg" />
    <embed
    type="application/x-shockwave-flash"
    id="player2"
    name="player2"
    src="player-viral.swf"
    width="640"
    height="360"
    allowscriptaccess="always"
    allowfullscreen="true"
    flashvars="file=mms://192.168.2.101:1234&image=preview.jpg"
    />
    </object>

    The only thing what you have to do is replacing the streaming url in...

    <param name="flashvars" value="file=mms://192.168.2.101:1234&image=preview.jpg" /> and
    flashvars="file=mms://192.168.2.101:1234&image=preview.jpg"

    ...with the streaming url of vlc.

    The a.m. flv-player can play mp4 and mp3 formats ;) I've tested it with vlc ;) and it worked well! :)

    ...und mal auf deutsch ;) also, was das css oder html angeht helf ich Dir gern.

    Simply not true, gemx stated multiple times that the main purpose of his plugin was to provide an interface for other developers. The "demo-website" could be much better of course but even in the current state it's great for streaming tv and scheduling recordings.

    You can use the playlist option, works great with vlc and windows media player. However I would also prefer an included flash player.
