live tv on my ipod touch working

it works:

with profile2 and the software streamer live tv is working on my ipod touch via wlan. I have no sound yet, but at least a picture.

sound also works on my iphone touch when I change the following setting: from "-oac lavc" to "-oac mp3lame"

I did not yet test a lot of different channels.

It is very shaky and I have lots of crashes. It works much better with the vlc-software on my pc, than with streamer on the iphone touch (no surprise, I assume).

Sometimes WebServerHost.exe starts to start lots of sessions on the same channel.
I then have to restart tvservice, change to another (web-)stream on the iTouch and restart tvservice and WebServerHost. I can then restart the mediaportal-channel and most of the time it works.

Luckily it seems to work without password, because I am not able to set a password with streamer. It may works because I also test with the webinterface from the PC?

brunoh: just use "mp2" instead of "ac3" as audio decoder in the parameters of profile2 and you got sound, too

gemx: this version is great so far, but i have two problems/wishes:

1. if i change the server name to a dyndns address the webpage is no more working.
2. it would be grat if the paths to the movingpictures and tv-series databases would be configurable

I have vlciphone on my iphone.... what would the stream url be? just the web site and port? or do I have to setup a playlist for rtsp? thanks!


Also, i'm having issues playing the media back on firefox in fedora 11... but it could be me... i'll keep u posted.

Ok I figured out what was wrong in firefox, it as a previosu poster said, it doesn't carry over the dyndns url it keeps the local URL intact for the .bat file.... alos looking at the bat file I think I can get the vlciphone stream to work, will post back later

What's wrong with TvSeries?
- Is the button not shown?
- Is the list empty?

For live-tv you could try to change the inputmethod for both profiles to "NamedPipe" instead of "Filename".
What tv-card do you use. Analog, DVB-S....?

The button shows but gives this error:

Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

filename for movies, maybe?

You can just play around a bit with the inputmethod file is best for movies but with live-tv it loads the rtsp stream from the tvserver which seems to not work sometimes so for live-tv "NamedPipe" seems the better choice and for any other not-live content use "Filename"

Could you please try TvSeries in the browser on your server because there it shows the exact exception stacktrace.
Without that it's a bit like searching in the dark

@nicx: Dyndns service works for me. I have just routed the port from my router to tvserver computers ip.

P.S. Could u tell me how can I make vlc the find the channels from the xml-files you told earlier, not a programmer so don't understand much

^I can confirm this.

beta1 works fine here with transcoding of live-tv and recordings. I first had mencoder crashing everytime, but updating mencoder to newest release helped.

I get errors when trying to start the already running server or stop the already stopped server, but everything keeps running. Minor stuff.

Beta 1 released

- Support for MovingPictures and TvSeries
- live-tv with transcoding now works
- added a login page, so if you expose these websites to the internet not everyone can use them

As this should now be mostly feature complete besides the design being quite ugly (design help greatly appreciated) i will wait some days and if this is stable enough i will finish the TvServer Plugin wrapper, so it runs automatically

i have the same problem... for me this is a major bug because i could not use the plugin with this "feature"

It's MPWebServices starting lots of sessions.

Every time you connect to Streamer.aspx?idChannel....

it starts a session.

If a player isn't working correctly and tries to connect several times it always starts a new session

Have you noticed the "TvServer Status" link in the top row?
You can not only see the status but when there is a timeshifting session you can also stop it
