New screen animation concept (1 Viewer)

Dear Black Glass community,

I admire Tgx for his work. Black Glass is a real highlight of MediaPortal. Among other things, I am fascinated how effectively and simply Tgx uses visualization engine. Almost afraid to ask TGX is a master and I find it somewhat heretical...

How do you like the latest changes in screen animation by choose the left menu?

Yes, it's very impressive, But me personally it does not seem too practical. According to my wife's illogical, it looks rather like an empty gesture, indicating the possibility of engine, but without proper benefits. In some cases it has to interfere (TV screen)

I would just point out again that it does not change the fact that Black Glass is for me a clear first choice.

Obviously i do not agree. In this way you can still read left part of the screen which in the previous skin versions was hidden by the opening of the left menu. Yes, the right part of the screen gets lost when you open the left menu, but when you enter the left menu, the reader's concern is on the left side of the screen and not on the right. The right part of the screen loses importance to the reader's eye. This is the way i originally conceived the skin. Only with MP 1.2.0 and its new enhancements in the skin engine i expressively requested to the Dev Team is now possible to have those kind of animations.

Hi Tgx,

yes, it is clear that you will defend this concept. It would be bad if you doubted it. Frankly, I myself am not entirely sure how it should be the best. That's why I wrote about it here in the forum. I was interested in the views of other users. Anyway, thanks for your explanation.

I liked the Version 2.7.0. of Black Glass.
The Version 2.8.0 I have some problems like you. When I enter the TV-plugin now I see first the left Menu and no TV picture, so I have to press one button more and this is very sad.

I asked Tgx if it is possible to make an option, so erveybody can choose how the left menu works...
but no answer at the moment.

This should be no criticism... only discussion. I love the skin !!!

You don't have the idea of the amount of work it involves!
It took about 2 months of work to achieve this animation system. Without counting 2 weeks of work to convert the skin to Full HD.

The difference between 2.8.0 and 2.7.0 from the code point of view is massive! So please understand me if i'm not willing to turn back.

Then change the <defaultcontrol> tag in "mytvhomeserver.xml" file from "2" to "99" and the tv picture will focus at the opening of the page.

now it works fine !!!



By the way... The slide from left to right is quite fine. Very good work.
For me it was only the problem, that I saw the left menu when starting the TV-plugin.

Now, everything is perfect !!!

For starters: a big for your work!

I can understand both opinions about the menu sliding, and I must say, I'm not sure which one I support.
Your logic about it fully makes sense to me, but on some places (f.e. world weather, when you use the left menu to cycle through the sattelite images) I think there is something to say for the "old method".
Anyways, either method is fine with me.

I've got the same issue as framelmike but at the browsetheweb/favorites page. I tried to change some defaultcontrols but with absolutely no skin-experience/understanding it didn't have the desired effect, so in which file should I change what, and is this something you'll put in new releases also?

This is different even though it may seem the same. The plugin does not set the focus to the facade view (control with id 50). It happens with the DefaultWide skin too. It's very subtle and you can recognize it from the unfocused frame of the facadeview. I would ask the plugin developer to fix this. It does not depend on the skin. The skin is correct because it sets the focus on the facade view but the plugin does not follow what is written in the skin code.
