It seems to be an MP bug, and has also been reported here:

Where there is a patch in development.

Hi,

Do you have 'Minimize to tray on GUI exit' enabled in

MediaPortal Configuration -> General -> Startup/Resume Settings?

If so, try disabling this.

Hi, No it isn't enabled, but if I do enable it then 'Restore' works fine, 'Exit' causes MP to seem to close but the process is still running. For now the workaround is to stop the stream before closing, I'm hoping the patch will be the permanent fix.

I did some further investigation, and found that it might be caused by 4TR.
Something in a API call hangs when closing mp.

OK thank you for that, I'm not really qualified to know, so more than happy to go with the workaround for now and provide any logs/details if you need them. I'd best leave it to you experts now, If I can help in anyway let me know.
