I have it working again, but has cost me 3 hours to get it right again!
The only thing I did was changing the WLAN stick for a newer better performing one,
Because I had set the TvServer on IP Address because I have tested the Mediaportal client on my laptop, the TvServer could not be started. because changing the WLAN stick caused it to use another IP Address. Also this could not be corrected in TVServer setup, because the setup requires a running TV sever.. So I was caught up in a Catch 22 situation.
OK, first tried to uninstall/install TV server, but then the remaining Mediaportal setup is changed it cant work with the TV server anymore.. Ok then uninstall everything and do a fresh complete new installation. Seems to work, but what is driving me nuts is that the TVService is turning itself off all the time! It took me an hour to configure TvSever to my required settings again.. AAHH.. Why is this that the TV server turns itself off all the time, really crazy.
Ok then start mediaportal again, first time I cant cionnect with the TV card, port issues, TVService turns off again..
Nothing but troubles!
Ok once it finally runs, it works fine again, but what a lot of difficulties only by changing a WLAN USB adapter!
I have a few improvement sugestions here for the TvServer setup, I hope the devs can have a look at this for future releases.
Introduce an APPLY button. in stead of aplying the changes uppon leaving the application with OK.
This Apply button then should have the following actions: check if TV server is running, start it if needed, make the changes as have been set, check the new settings are working.
Fill out the IP address of the server automatically by looking up the network settings that belongs to the Host that is filled out in the setup, even if the Host is filled out, use the IP address in the background as the host name doesnt seem to work on a remote client.
If the IP adress has changed, look it up again, as the Host name probably never changes, and IF the host name is changed (but not the IP adress) it still works as the IP adress that is actually used remains the same. Maybe it is a good idea to allways lookup the IP adress at startup of the TvService, because with DHCP this address might change everyday at some systems.
Anyway, I think it is something to have a serious look at, as i have seen many posts about this subject, people having trouble using the TvServer setup/watching TV after some silly things have changed in their network. At least it should not this frustrating as I had it today.
