Steps to reproduce:

1.) Enter MyTV
2.) Switch on TV
3.) Enter Fullscreen
4.) Press F9
5.) Select TV-Guide
6.) Look at the TV guide for about 30 seconds

you get kicked off. (This one is a really annoying bug)

    Hi!

    Thanks for the feedback.

Check the next build for a fix :)
And please report any other issues you might find regarding this.
(u only need to update the tvplugin)

I am convinced I have verified every possible context in which TV is running - and heartbeat seems to be sent ok.
You can always check tv.log on server to see if it has decided to kick a client.

Obviously, if u "end-task" mediaportal.exe while timeshifting, the server should indeed kick the client after about 30secs.
    This value is currently hardcoded.

Problem seems to be solved for miniEPG but still does exist for the program guide.
For steps to reproduce see my first post.

    Regards,
    grubi.

I just upgraded all the latest SVNs on my server and client, but can't reproduce this problem. I'm look at the guide right now and TV is playing in the bottom left corner and it's been like that for some now (more than 30secs)

gibman: A bit off topic but...Could something in the new heartbeat code cause this:

On my laptop P4 3.2 GHz (Directx8.1) the GUI is fast everywhere except as soon as I go into to My TV everything slows right down. Its like as soon as I enter My Tv something starts soaking up the CPU. If I select a channel and go fullscreen it plays fine but it's jerky in preview mode e.g in the Guide. Any ideas?

Btw nice work on the heartbeat stuff. Really good idea :D

Yeah, same here...can't repro' this either.
    I'll keep trying though.

grubi, try and open mediaportal.log with a text editor like ultraedit or similar editor that notifies u when the file has been changed - it asks u if u want to reload.

This change in mediaportal.log should happen every 5th sec.

Ofcourse u can manually reopen the log file in notepad.
    This was just a hint.

Now, try and use the tvguide as u mention and monitor the mp.log file - does it send heartbeats every 5 sec?

mcraenz; the problem u r mentioning isnt happening here.
try and attach a debugger, then u mite get an idea where the problem is :)
    Only kidding...

Check your CPU usage while in TVhome and attach logs.
Although I don't think this has anything to do with this change.
Yeah, it's a pretty nice feature to have (heartbeat).
I've done it in way that it is the client initiating timeshifting that decides wether or not heartbeats are to be used or not.

This way gemx' small MP tv client, VLC player etc etc. still works - albeit without heartbeat.

    Hmmm?
Checked this 3 times and I was always kicked after 30 seconds whereas on MiniEPG the problem was indeed fixed in this release. Anything to do with a specific skin? I tested with (latest) SpinSave Revolve.
I will do some further tests and post the results.

    grubi.
