NFO Scanner explained + issues? (1 Viewer)

Adult movies can not be searched on by title via imdb.com search, so Moving Pictures is unable to find them and I have to manually enter the IMDB tt-ID inside Movie Importer. I figured I try the NFO method, but my crazy filenameing scheme seems to throw things off.

"Deep Throat [1972] - 352x272 XviD @ 224Kbps MP2.avi" + "Deep Throat [1972] - 352x272 XviD @ 224Kbps MP2.nfo" fails.

The NFO file ends up being ignored. Renaming the file to "Deep Throat [1972].avi" (with matching NFO filename, containing 'tt0068468') solves the problem, or I can keep feeding the tt-ID manually into the Importer, but perhaps there is a small bug in the NFO filematching part.

i remember reading previously in the forum that it fails on all porn, and you have to add imdb# manually for all porn titles on imdb?

The standard IMDb search will not turn up any results for pornography, but if you have an NFO file with the IMDb ID it will find the correct movie. What RoChess has identified is a legitimate bug with the NFO preprocessor.

Tried it with v1.0.1 just a moment ago, but issue #653 was indeed unrelated and bug is still present.

No need to explain it in detail though (thanks for the offer), because I saw on the issue you created that you were able to recreate it, so that should allow you to hopefully fix the problem easy.

Hey guys - couple of questions on all of this -

I have lot's of movies with manually edited titles. I've been using that 'MP Artwork and Info Copier' app to create .nfo files and backup the cover/backdrops of all my movies to ensure that if there was any need to re-import my movie collection that it would be hassle free.

I recently did a full uninstall/reinstall of the new RC version of MediaPortal/streamedMP. When I went into the MovingPictures config tab, I made sure that the .nfo scanner and the option to search for cover art & backdrops was enabled before I did a scan/import of my movies folder.

I noticed a couple of things:
1) Before, there were some movies that I had to manually search for, but this time I did not. Every movie was auto-approved. I assume this is because each movie had an .nfo file with a imdb ID.
2) The movies were not renamed like they were in my .nfo files.
3) The cover art and backdrops successfully imported.

Now I may be way off on this, but from my (little) reading of this thread, I gathered that all the .nfo scanner does is search for a corresponding link to IMDB within the .nfo file from which to gather all information about the movie. Is there a way to replace all of this movie detail info with whatever is in the .nfo file? All I really care about are not having to re-enter all of my manually edited movie titles...

Yes, the 'NFO Scanner' is meant for those NFO files generated by non-XBMC means, and all it does it look for an IMDb tt..... number, so it can secure the right movie. This is useful when the filename is some cryptic reference to the movie (like an acronym).

The XBMC NFO system is seperate from this and you indeed need to adjust the priority of the XBMC Scraper to be first, so that it can auto-approve your movies. The default advanced setting is to only auto-approve from the primary (first) scraper.

Once I realized that I needed to do this, I found the XBMC Scraper discussion thread. I have posted some additional issues that I have been running into there.

So if I plan on importing movie details via the XBMC nfo files, can I disable the nfo scanner?
