Hi:
I have both a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-2255 card and a Hauppauge Colossus card installed. I have a ATSC antenna connected to the WinTV and a Roku connected to the Colossus.

The antenna is functional, as my HDTV receives a nice signal from it.

When I tried to do server setup, Mediaportal found both cards and listed them as Analog TV tuner and BDA ATSC/tuner respectively.

I tried doing a channel scan on the antenna and found no channels.

Did I miss a step? I'm confused.

Also, how can I scan for signals from the Collosus?

Thanks in advance!

    Hello and welcome! :)

I tried doing a channel scan on the antenna and found no channels.

The first step is to configure your tuner, and the second step is to scan.
AFAIK the default settings should be fine for your HVR-2255, so it should be fine to skip that step.
My advice would be to have a look in our wiki:
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...rver_Configuration/02_TV_Servers/7b_Scan_ATSC

In particular, note that you should be scanning with "tuning mode" set to ATSC Digital Terrestrial.
If that is what you did, try changing the "preferred network provider" tuner setting to "ATSC".
    http://wiki.team-mediaportal.com/1_...nfiguration/02_TV_Servers#Edit_Tuner_Settings

Also, how can I scan for signals from the Collosus?
Colossus (and HD-PVR) don't have a tuner, so you can't scan with it like a traditional tuner.
You should see the "...crossbar..." tuner show up in TV Server configuration. If you go to the scanning section for that "tuner" you should see an "add s-video channels" button. Click that and TV Server will add one channel per input (eg. HDMI, component etc.) to the "TV Channels" list.

    Hope that helps. :)

So, I have a HD antenna hooked up to the WinTV card. Should be providing a digital signal. Mediaportal says it is an analog card? I don't have an option to change to a digital signal.

Go back to the tuner list. The HVR-225* tuners show 2 entries - 1 analog tuner (for analog NTSC, FM radio and capture/external inputs) and 1 digital tuner for ATSC antenna and clear QAM cable. You're probably looking at the analog tuner... but there should be an "ATSC" one there too.

Mediaortal had the device listed as a WinTV 7741 as opposed to a 2255. Device manager says the device is not working properly - needs a driver. I downloaded and installed the proper driver from Hauppauge. No change. So, I have an inquiry into Haupauge.

Mediaortal had the device listed as a WinTV 7741...
That could be completely normal. The driver determines the tuner name. Some drivers don't put the model number in the name. Hauppauge is a case in point. Their HVR-2200 and 2210 are named something like "Hauppauge WinTV-7164 BDA DVBT Tuner". The 2250 is similar. In that example, 7164 refers to the main chip on the card - a Phillips/NXP/Trident SAA7164 PCIe bridge chip.

Device manager says the device is not working properly - needs a driver.
This is not normal. However, if the driver for the tuner wasn't installed then you wouldn't see it listed in TV Server at all. I suspect the device you're looking at may be a different device.

OK. That's confusing. I suppose I wouldn't have cared or even noticed if it was working.

When I started the tuning process, the signal bars went full green, which seemed to indicate that the card at least had a signal.

Perhaps the device with the error is the Colossus card then.

As mentioned in my previous post: the name of the tuner comes from the driver. We have no control over the driver.

If the TV Server tuner list contains a "Hauppauge Colossus Crossbar" tuner then that's the Colossus... and the Colossus driver is installed fine. Otherwise, all you have to do is install the Colossus driver.

Did you let the scan run to completion?
If so, please post your log files.
    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Click "open log directory" in the top left corner.
    3. Zip up all the files in that folder.
    4. Post/attach the zip file here.
