Well, it's worked so far but the real test will be when the computer has been left alone for a few days and then turns on to record. Not had a chance to test that yet but will keep you posted...

So... I thought it was working and I went away on holiday. Came back and it had recorded only the first scheduled program and then nothing else. Went back into saying no free cards available. On to the more extreme tasks of changing PSU etc

One other improvement I found lately was changing the DVB EPG settings so that it grabs when the card is tuned rather than when it is idle. This made a big difference to my system which was suffering from standby recovery recording issues.

It might be worth a try before you take a more drastic route.

I would be tempted to get rid of the dvbepg altogether, I use the xmltvgui for getting mine from radiotimes.

A couple of other things you could test, try changing in the tvserver config card properties, instead of generic use dvb-t, the other is stop graph instead of pause.

Sorry cannot be much more help as use 4TheRecord+Argus+MP

I'm currently trying the xmltv way of doing things but struggling to get it to work. As for the config card properties; I don't seem to be able to change any of those settings as there is only one option in each

    Hi Santy

I'm currently trying the xmltv way of doing things but struggling to get it to work.
I take it you've seen this?

    XmlTv - MediaPortal Wiki

Once you have an XMLTV file, point the plugin to its location. There must be an xmltv.dtd in the same folder - you can get that from -->here<--. Then go to the second tab, select a channel group and click load/refresh. If everything has worked correctly then you should have options in the combo boxes in each channel row. Go through and fix the channels that didn't automatically get linked correctly. Finally click save. Go back to the first tab and click import - TV Server configuration will freeze for a few minutes while the data is imported. You should be able to go into MP and see data in the guide after that. Next it is a matter of automating the generation of the XMLTV file - that process really depends on how/where you're getting it from. If you're downloading it then TV Server can do everything for you, otherwise you might need to create a Windows scheduled task to generate it for you.

As for the config card properties; I don't seem to be able to change any of those settings as there is only one option in each
That's because you're on XP. Don't worry about it.

I had, thanks. I finally worked out what the problem was this morning... I was using RadioTimes as my xml source, but although I'd specified 14 grab days, each channel was showing 0 guide days on the mapping details. I checked the webepg file and all the web addresses were correct so I'm not sure what's wrong with it. Anyhow, I've switched to a different provider and it successfully populated my tvguide.

Fingers crossed this works. Thanks for the help everyone...

OK, right I've sorted getting the data from Radio Times... the xml file for it was set to 0 days for some bizarre reason. I've changed it to 14 now and got a whole 2 weeks worth in my EPG. Let's see what happens.

It seems the problem still hasn't gone away as it did it again last night. This is despite switching off all EPG grabbing via freeview and using WebEPg instead :(

    Hi Santy

I'm sorry to hear that you're still having trouble. Could you please post fresh logs showing the problem from last night (you can follow the instructions for non-reproducible problems -->here<--) and be sure to specify the time when you noticed the problem.

    Hi,

OK, so the computer was supposed to record Sherlock at 20:10 - 21:40 from BBC 1 on 01/01/12. I got home at about 00:30 to find the computer still on and it hadn't recorded. This is unusual, because normally the computer switches on and off at the correct times, but just doesn't record anything. I've added the logs so hopefully it shows something in there...

    Thanks for helping with this
