IIRC I was having this same problem before I went to BETA so this may not be specific to this version...

When I load a DVD Disc or folder (from the hard drive) the menu highlights/selection does not appear. I can blindly scroll through options and hope I hit the right one but there is no visual indicator to let me know what menu item I have selected. See screenshots (attached) for what it looks like if I use TotalMedia as my external player and what MP shows.

FYI, I want to use the default DVD navigator as using an external one makes watching the discs I have ripped to my hard drive harder.

What codec are you using? This happens to me with powerdvd11 codec and maybe even ffdshow. With MS dtv decoder everything is fine.

I was using the PowerDVD11 codec and the default DVD Navigator. I tried with ffdshow and it worked. Any ideas what the problem with PDVD is?

I would say that an issue such as this with PDVD is beyond our control. However, one of the experts will know more than I do.

Not sure anyone really knows - some codecs on some systems have the problem, but there doesn't seem to be any real pattern to it....

There is also a 'Disable DXVA' option in the MP 'DVD' settings section which helps sometimes.

Doesn't make a difference in this case. And when I previously had PDVD11 installed and used it as a stand-alone the problem didn't exist, so it's something to do with the way it interacts with MP.
