No OSD :( (1 Viewer)

Since two versions of MP 1.X and 2.X RC 2 i don't have any OSD anymore not with videos not with TV. I tried for 4 hours now to change settings but with no effect. I have a Pentium 4 2.8 GhZ, 512mb ram, radeon 9200 SE, and a pinnacle PCTV stereo TV card. Does someone has some suggestions how i can get the nice OSD's back. Please let me know

For the rest i want to wish everyone a good 2006 and want to thank the MP crew for all their efforts so far and already for the future

Are you using VMR9 and what codecs?
Something in the log files?
- start MP
- start a video or TV
- go fullscreen
- try to display the OSD ("y")
- end MP
-> /MediaPortal/logs/

Do other OSDs work? (Menu, Pause, Skip, etc.)

It seems like I have this issue as well. It worked fine for the longest time and seems to have inexplicably disappeared. I suspect it may be a registry setting because even going back to 0.1.0.0, it didn't come back.
It had previously been working all the way up to .2 RC1 (RC2 was not working for me at that time.
The OSD does not show when the Y key is pressed, or like it used to when the channel was changed.

Second, the bold part does not look ok. It seems as if VMR9 does not work correct here and MP is falling back to overlay. This could be caused by the S/W encoding card. What type is it? The drivers of this card may not support VMR9 in fullscreen. Try setting overlay for TV mode. Perhaps this helps.

Mine is a radeon 9x00. Also overlay is no longer an opiton on my dropdown, I don't know what version that began with.

I have a little update on this -

1) If I press the key for either menu (OSD, or I think it is called "context menu") the system functionas as if the menus are there, I just can't see them. For example, if I press "up" a couple of times and then enter, it will go a couple of channels up. If I press the button for the context menu, the system is unresponsive until I hit enter, getting rid of the menu I can't see.

2) On the input channels, CVBS#1, CVBS#2, SVHS, RGB, the OSD does appear for a split second. That doesn't happen on regular cable channels.

3) This appears to only happen on MyTV, because I can bring up the context menu on any other module.

I really think the main problem is your TV card. You should consider to buy a H/W encoding card. Not much help, I know. :?

I would agree with you, but that wouldn't explain why it used to work. Like I said, I went back to 0.1.0.0, which the OSD worked with, and the functionality didn't come back.

I will try doing a system restore to a date when I know it worked and try it that way.

how did you went back? Made a fresh install, meaning deleting the MP dir, or did you install 0.1. over 0.2.?
