Hi,

I've been trying to setup the T.V. server, but all I get is this error message.
A Connection was successfully established with the server, but the an error occurred during the login process. (provider: Sharec Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe.)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've tried connecting with Server management express program and I get the same error message.

As far as I know the SQL server is set up correctly i.e. TCP/IP, Named Pipes and shared memory are all enabled. Force Protocol encryption is set to 'NO' and local and remote connections are set to TCP/IP and named pipes.

I've uninstalled MP and then Re-installed, but the same thing happens.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi.
I've just done a complete re-install and I have the same problem.
What I have noticed is that as soon as I had installed MP, when I start the machine up, it takes a long time for the network (around a minute) to start up. Could that be related?
Also it takes the TVservice a long time to start up if I restart it.
Can anyone help?

Connection Error: (provider: Shared Memory Provider, error: 0 - No process is on the other end of the pipe. - MSDN Forums

I spent a couple hourse working on this issue until i realised my SQL Server Agent Was stopped. It wasn't set to auto start to reboots didn't help. Oddly all my win32 apps would work fine and asp.net apps running from other machines could get the SQL data but a asp.net 2.0 app running off localhost would throw this error.

I enable the Protocols "Named Pipes" and it works.

See if anything there helps you, above are 2 answers, and if you get really fedup, install mysql instead, after uninstalling mssql.

Information for doing this manually can be found here TV-Server - MediaPortal Wiki Documentation

    Regards

Thanks for your reply, but I had tried all of the suggestions already (even though there was nothing wrong with the way the installer had set it up).
So I installed MySQL 5 instead and it works now.
    Thanks.
