MediaPortal is not responding to volume up and down and mute commands.
I tried to remap keys but that's still not working.
I'm pretty sure up and down worked at some point but mute never did really.

I'm on v1.6 and not felling like doing a fresh re-install again.
    StreamedMP skin.

    Anyone ever had similar issues?

Have you checked the mixer in Windows?

Having re-installed the whole thing myself before now by missing this [was a while ago though, I tend to make far more complex cockups now:-], it's a simple check.

If that don't work,as you know, lots of bods here in forums who'll help with the more complicated stuff:)

    What do you mean?

I can still adjust the system volume using the remote which is exactly what I was doing before.
The only difference is that MP does not show the volume adjustment I'm doing as it use to.

Mute never really worked for me.

MediaPortal is not responding to volume up and down and mute commands.
Depends on your audio settings and the type of audio source you are listening to. If bistream is activated then the Windows audio mixer is by-passed and Windows-related volume commands have no effect. This is usually the case for DD 5.1 TV streams but can also apply to simple stereo signals if you are using the MePo Audio renderer MPAR and have configured it that way for quality reasons - the PC audio hardware is not exactly what an audiophile would call high-tech.

The effect is pretty common and users get very confused when their system is all of a sudden muted and they can't hear audio when watching PCM-encoded TV but Dolby Digital is alright. For true HTPCs I recommend to map the amplifier volume to the remote.

I got both amplifier and PC on the remote. Usually I just used the PC one to put it back to 25 on MP scale of 50. Just in case someone changed it for some reason. Since MP stopped showing the scale I can't tell where it's at any more.

Any idea which setting I should try to tweak to get that working again?
What happens if you activate FullScreen TV and press '=' and/or '-' on the keyboard? These keys are supposed to incresae/decrease the sound level. Please select a stereo/PCM Audio source for testing since DD, DTS, etc. may bypass your audio mixer.

I just treid this on a Client and it works.

Could it be that you are again running into the Shift issue with the French keyboard layout? Try to press the following keys instead of = and - :

= --> 0 (Zero; on the top line of the main keyboard, not on the num pad))
    - --> * (star; again on the main keyboard)
