Hi all i recently changed my gfx card from a 8400gs to a 430gt and well basically the change has left me with no signals on all channels on my hauppauge nova-hd-s2 sat card, i did a fresh install of win 7 and mepo 1.2 and all i get is no channels found when scanning however if i put the 8400gs back in all channels are found without problems, i have also tried putting the card back in after scanning with the 8400gs but all i get is a black screen, my questions are.

1...Could the 430gt interfere with the sat card enough to block every signal channel.(moving pci slots not an option.)

2...Could it be power issue the 430gt pulls 20watt more than the 8400gs and could this cripple the sat card in some way.

Thanks for any advice offered.

    Hello nabster

    It seems unusual that changing a graphics card could affect the tuner card - I've never heard of anything like this happening before.
    It could be a power, heat or interference problem I guess, but I would suggest you post the TV Server log files so we can see exactly what the tuner is doing.
    1. Open TV Server configuration.
    2. Click open log directory in the top left corner.
    3. Zip up all the files you find there and post the zip file here.

    Hi and thanks for the reply i have uploaded two sets of logs one for the onboard 8200 graphics which show the card working i then switched to to the 430gt which makes the card bum out.

    In my testing because my board has hybrid sli ability i played around with a few permutations

    Hybrid sli on with 8200/8400 = working Tv
    8400 with 8200 disabled = working TV
    8200 = working Tv
    430gt = NO TV
    Hybrid sli on with 8200/430gt = working TV ,( I am assuming the works because although win 7 install both cards, the 430gt is never used because its not compatible with hybrid sli. )

    Heres a jpg of what occurs when scanning for channels with the 430gt, when scanning with other cards both the quality and level bars are full, but with the 430gt only the signal quality bar is full.

    Hello again

    "Nothing found" is different from "no signal".
    "Nothing found" means that the tuner reported that it locked on to signal but the stream didn't seem to contain the PMT - the information which tells TV Server which video and audio streams are associated with each channel.
    There are no obvious errors in the log files so I'm finding it difficult to explain why the GPU could have this effect...

    Hello again

    I haven't done the maths on the power but I'll take your word for it. What I wanted to say was that PSUs are never 100% efficient so that 435W PSU is possibly more like 350W (assuming roughly 80% efficiency).
    I'm not convinced that power would explain the problem because it doesn't explain how the tuner is able to lock on signal. If I were you, I would try to borrow a higher rated PSU before buying to confirm that it will actually fix the problem.

    Well i managed to get hold of a brand new 550watt psu and still NO DAM JOY this has got me stumped, interference from the 430gt is the only thing i can put it down to. Moved the gt430 and TV card to new system based on an i3 and all is good again would like to have solved the issue but it really had me stumped.
