Hello ,
I have quality issues with live TV on MePo (standard install with server and client on same machine):
no sound on most of HD TV channels (4/5) and noise burst/pixel on the video for all HD channels
some time pixels/line on SD TV channels

I have tried various codec w/o succes : PWDVD9, Microsoft Codec, MPC, ATI, LAV filter

I do not have the problem with the preview function in the TV server => what codec is used by the preview function ?

No problem also if I connect VLC to the TV tuner: HD is fine (no noise/pixel) and sound is OK, no lines/pixels in the SD TV channels

No playback issues with blu-ray disk with PWDWD9 on this machine (I didn't try with MePo as it seems a mess to get it working with protected discs)

What could be the problem? May be something is delaying the stream between the TVserver and the TVclient on the machine
The folder for the TV timeshifting and recording are located on the SSD

remark: I have AVAST anti virus on the machine.

Could anyone has got same problem and hopefuly understood/solved the problem...

thx

some more tests

I tried to record HD TV with anti virus halted and read the file .ts with VLC.
The sound was OK but there was still noise/pixels during playback.
May be the TVserver has a problem during write process but not during preview as said in previous post.

I will gather TV server logs if someone can help

We always need full set of logs, use the debug mode from the windows Start menu to create and upload using forum advanced + feature.

    Thanks

    Hi,
here are the logs for a test this morning

I tuned to several HD channels in standard mode at 9h50 and in debug mode at 10h06.
In debug mode the noise/pixel are gone but still no sound except on ARTE HD channel.
(no difference for sound between debug and standard mode: no sound on TF1HD F2HD M6HD, sound on ARTEHD)

Hope somebody can identify the problem

    thxs

    bump!

Any body can help me solving this HD issue ?

As I said earlier, the sound is OK on HD channels and pixels are gone when I use the preview function in the TV server, but the video seems interlaced in the server preview screen (It seems that the codec used for the preview screen is a default one, but I dont know which codec is used).
It seems like the TS file generated by the server contains errors, because when in MePo , if i replay the TS file, I get the video pixel noise always at the same time stamp. Noise /pixels are not related to HDD activity.

    hope someone can help

May be this is more related to server issue than codec issue and should be moved to related forum section ?

I'm using Avast for antivirus and its not giving me any problems, just make sure recording\timeshift folders are in its excludsions.

One thing i am noticing atm, is how many SSD users are reporting pixelation and corruption, could you try using a internal hdd for timeshifting\recording and see if any difference, this could be coincidental of course.

Other thing is signal, does everything work perfectly with the hauppauge software.

Hopefully mm will stick his helpful nose in and look at this thread :D

    Hi,
Yes I tried with the HDD instead of SSD for the timeshifting and recording folders, but no change.

I have also some video freeze even on standard channels.

I didn't change the RF configuration from my previous HTPC. SD channels where OK with MePo 1.02/WindowsXP in other HTPC with same tuner and aerial amplifier but now I have this issue on my new HTPC and MePo 1.2.1/Window7.

If related to SSD, may be this is due to other process using the SSD (in fact all W7 process mapped to the SSD as the SSD is the system drive)

The funny thing is that the preview function of TVserver does not have the issue (sound on HD channels is OK and no pixels, no freeze) . Same behaviour if I read the tuner with VLC.
This may be the indication that the tuner and signal levels are OK but the TS file gets corrupted during write process.

AW: No sound on HD TV channels

    Hello!
Could you start MediaPortal in window mode and then start LiveTV on a HD Channel without sound.
After this you could check your codecs in use via Graphstudio.
While playing LiveTV on a HD Channel without sound on windowed mode click on graphstudio.exe -> Tab File -> Connect to remote graph -> MediaPortal should pop up in the list of remote graphs -> Connect

Can you post a screenshot of that graph please.

To get graphstudio working you may need to register proppage.dll first. You can get it from here: proppage.dll
