Hi!

I have recently upgraded to Vista, and everything works fine, apart from Video streams. All plugins (Music Videos, Trailers, ...) don't work. The GUI says the file cannot be played. I have a standard install, all Windows Updates installed and a completely clean system.

I would be very grateful if somebody could help. Can anyone successfully play streams in Vista?

Thanks!

    Hi,

thanks for your reply. Since WMP and VLC play streams fine in Vista it seems to be an incompatibility issue with MP. And certainly there will be more and more people switching to Vista, as most PCs come with Vista nowadays. If nobody knows how to solve this, then I guess I'll have to debug the issue when I have a bit of time.

    Hi,
I'm using MP with vista & have no problems with streams. Have you added MP to vista firewall & disabled in MP Setup (configuration) -> General -> "Use VMR9 for playback of web streams"?

    Regards

    Hi,

this is weird, I tried disabling VMR9 yesterday, and it didn't work, however today after trying again it works! But shouldn't it be possible to use VMR9 as well? Without it there are no overlays which are very helpful. My firewall is disabled at the moment.

    Thanks!

    Hi,
This it's added to Mantis as a bug, it's not only for vista. You can have that problem in XP too like i have/had ;)

    Roy,

Hm. Firstly the bug is marked as resolved, secondly my behaviour is not quite the same. I never get a crash. Secondly the following log entries show up in my log:

    Code:
    2007-05-18 00:38:38.911365 [Warn.][MPMain]: vmr9: pin:0 not connected:80040209 2007-05-18 00:38:38.911365
    [Warn.][MPMain]: vmr9: no input pin 1 found 2007-05-18 00:38:38.912341
    [Warn.][MPMain]: vmr9: no input pin 2 found

I could imagine that this is not Vista specific, but there must be a reason for this, as I didn't have it in XPSP2

    Thanks for your help!

    Hi,
If you read down in that bug you will see this "open => not fixable" & why it is so, it didn't crash in XP after some other changes, but didn't work either when VMR9 was used here.....

    Roy

Ok, but there is still this exception, which I don't seem to get. It really doesn't look as the same issue to me. It's definitely an issue with VMR9, but this errorcode 80040209 seems to be suggesting there is something wrong with the filters, which leads me to suspect that there is some sort of problem in the legacy DirectX9 support.

Is there a way to change any other settings connected to streams, like which filters are used and so on?

I have had the same erorr in w2k on one test machine, the way I had to resolve it was to reinstal WMP.

It was as thought the settings for certain WMP codecs had gone wrong.

They were present when I checked with graphedit but MP couldn't connect the pins.

This should help for XP aswell (can't say about VISTA though)
