OK, now I just tried reinstalling everything (TV server 3, MP and TV Server client plugin) from scratch. So I uninstalled everyting, then deleted the "Team Mediaportal" directory from under Program Files, as well as the "Team Mediaportal" and "Mediaportal TV Server" directories from under ProgramData (yes, using Vista).
So with that I installed MP 0.2.3.0 RC2, then todays SVN (16049), then TV server, same SVN build (using MySQL), and finally the TV server plugin.

Now regardless of the skin I use, everything works fine, except entering "My TV". That gives a blank screen in the active skins design. This is only a test system without tuner, before a real HTPC that I will be building within a month or so, but I would like to find out why this is happening anyway. I had it working on older SVNs (from sept 10), so then I could test WebEPG / XMLTV.

It feels like I missed something on my clean re-install so the installation is corrupt (only the MySQL db was left for TVE3, but that was recreated on first start), or there's some config setting I should have made.

And all this, just so I could test Harley's brilliant XFace skin..... ;-)

TV-Server Version: 16049
MediaPortal Version: 0.2.3.0 RC2 + SVN 16049
MediaPortal Skin: Blue Two wide, Spinsave Revolve, XFace
Windows Version: Vista Ultimate 32bit

Quick update after more testing...
I also tried uninstalling all three (server, MP, TV server plugin), deleting all their dirs and imstalling older SVNs, since I had it working just fine yesterday, but same effect, so maybe the TVE3 db got corrupted somehow...??

I'll do another clean install later this weekend with a remove of the db from MySQL as well as a windows registry cleanup for all mediaportal entries.

But in the meantime, if anyone reading this has a good suggestion....

One more day of testing and I have my "TV" section back so I can see the WebEPG / XMLTV generated EPG data on my testmachine (without tuners; will come in a month or so).

The solution was to go back to the TVE3 and MP versions on SVN build number 15824 (sept 10th 2007). So somewhere between sept 10th and sept27th, the SVN builds are causing a problem on my 32bit Vista Ultimate, where selecting (My) TV, with the TV server plugin installed, results in a blank screen that stays, and from there on the only thing you can do is press ALT + F4 to close the MP app.

I also noticed that the "database" and "thumbs" directories were no longer under C:\ProgramData in the sept 27th SVN, but rather under C:\Program Files. Can any of the developers confirm that is is intentional?

That said, the conclusion means that this thread should maybe move be moved to the general Mediaportal section, instead of the TVE3.

Hopefully, I am making sense with all this, and it would be nice if someone else on Vista can cnfirm this...
