Hi,

Recently did a fresh Vista install on a seperate harddrive to test tv server. It's a single seat setup so far. In tvserver everything seems fine (also with manual timeshift and record). In MP I do see the EPG, all channels are listed but when I select a channel I only get a black box, it won't even go to full screen. OSD does show correct info. Weird thing is that with the MPtvClient util and vlc it works perfectly! I get to see all channels, HD and SD perfectly. Just not in MP itself. Anyone have a clue? Did I overlook something?

Thanks in advance,

Dennis

Your logs show an error creating a graph. You need to play around with the what filters you are using for MPEG etc.

Ok, thanks. I'll try some different settings for the codecs. I'll post the results later today.

Reinstalling MP did the trick somehow. But only with MPV codec, not with cyberlink codecs. Thanks for your help.

Codec problems can be a pain to sort out. If you search the forums there is plenty of information on seeing what the graph is, and figuring out the problem. My guess is that there is something in the middle of the graph that causing it to not be able to find the next filter to connect to. That is the most common problem I"ve seen, but usually occures if you install a bunch of codec packs. I only use the Combined Community Codec Pack, and have not had any problems like this since using it. Hope it helps...

Thanks for the advise. Can't really put my finger on it so far. I only had Powerdvd installed before, that didn't work. Then I added ffdshow. No go. And then MPV/A did the trick. I really would like to use the hardware assisted decoding of my videocard. But I'll do some more rigorous testing over the weekend (can't swap out the harddrive with the working MP1 config now, my wife 'll go ballistic  ).

There may be an issue with MediaPortal. I noticed a couple of threads that some people were complaining of the same issue you do. If I remember correctly they were all on Vista. To toubleshoot it, please use the test tool to create some logs. If you use the new test tool it can create the graph (or lack there of) to see what is the problem. In Vista you have to install the Vista SDK. More info is here:

Hope this helps...

I did a full reinstall of Vista, latest MP and TV3. Did not install MPV/MPA and now it seems to be working fine! Even DVB-c radio works now. Thanks for all the help!

Now that you mention it, I do remember reading that the last couple of SVN's were installing MPV by default, where previously they were not.

Glad to see it worked out for you.

Indeed, MPV/A installed by default. But it will allow me to use cyberlink codecs. Alas, two days later all is amiss again. Did not change anything. TVserver will only tune to one channel, then stay there, claiming all tuners are busy. Driving me nuts! Latest svn won't help.
