[no Bug] non English letters on non English OS (1 Viewer)

Hi,

First of all MP2 looks really good (though a bit congusing which may be just a matter of time) and many thanks for this great effort!

now back to the issue:

I have Win7 x64, Russian.

Installed MP2 and found out that I cannot read any regional settings as I see just blocks instead of letters (except for two first options for Serbian) and cannot read paths and filenames which are in Russian (just same blocks). Please see the attached screen.

Hi MaxT,

This is not really a bug, but "just" a font problem : The font used in the default skin is an open source font, that does not implement the all symbols. Please, can you try the Reflexion skin instead ?

Reflection skin did not work - same blocks, though MP2 Rising did the job.

Thanks a lot MaxT, that's confirm my "no bug" diagnostic.

I may write a small tutorial to change the font of a skin

MP2 Rising skin is OK with non Latin. Just it is not so great IMHO

You might try to change the font that is used in Reflexion yourself:

You can edit the file "MP2-Client\Plugins\Reflexion\Skin\Reflexion\fonts\default-font.xml" like:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<Font FontFamily="MayaType UI" FontSize="32"/>

You also can try any available .ttf font, but you need to add a .desc file to the fonts folder (look for the existing ones as example!)

now that we are getting more and more into the localization progress, we also need to change the default font to support more characters. Please check the related mantis entry: http://mantis.team-mediaportal.com/view.php?id=3844

I think this issue should be solved after we changed the font

MaxT: would you like to start a russian translation for MP2? We are currently evaluating an online translation service and could need more translators
