ok... some progress.

I noticed that there was yet another patch in the IRSS thread on the 4th page. I installed that patch and the blasting is now working... kinda. I can select a channel from the guide and it will "blast" to that channel. However, now I lost the other button functionality on my remote. since my remote is an RF remote, I had to select generic HID device in the MP setup to get some of the buttons to work. Now none of the buttons really work except the arrows, OK/enter, and "clear" which works like ESC.

I really want to be able to use pause, play, etc as well as the volume and channel buttons... getting the shortcut buttons to work would just be icing on the cake. In my searches, I saw several other uses requesting support for the Gyration remote, which is MCE certified. Is there some way to get the IRSS working with atleast a generic HID device, or even better, the gyration remote?

    YES!!! well done. Good progress.
The 4th page patch is the one I referred to above as post #35. There is an earlier patch as well, I think post number #12, but that does not work.

Come to think it, maybe I should go edit that thread to try and make it all clear.

Unfortunately, I do not have any knowledge regarding RF remotes or HID. Let's hold thumbs that someone else can pick it up here to assist.

yeah, it would be nice if all the patches were in that first post about IRSS from andy.

for some reason it just stopped working just now. No changes in configuration or anything, my buddy has been watching TV for a couple hours and blasting just stopped working, no flash on the eye or anything....

sigh... gonna wait till his program is done and check it out.

EDIT: I ASSume that creating a custom configuration for a remote is possible via the MP Config-->Plug ins--->Process Plugins--> (what ever the process plugin for IRSS is called). Is that correct?

I think the author's name is Aaron :)
His real life commitments are a bit hectic now, but we all hope to have him active again as soon as possible.

Sorry - I do not have any new ideas that was not yet mentioned :(

Regarding the mapping - yes, plugins, MPControl Plugin for IRSS. Then you can map buttons.

    Aaron... right. whoops!

I think I am getting somewhere. When I fired it up today, it was giving that wierd error about not being mapped to a server or whatever. I noticed that there was also a weird windows error saying that the "Media Center Recevier Service has stopped responding". Once my buddy was done watching TV I went to check into the blasting issue. I noticed that I was getting the same error during testing that it was not set to a server. I also noticed that same Windows error again.

Is mediaportal and VMC tied together somehow?

just for the sake of it, I downloaded and update the drivers for the two hauppauge 1800's, then rebooted vista. I then fired up the TVServer config, and now the TV3 Blaster plugin isnt even listed as an option under plugins???????? If I click on Start-->Programs IRSS IS installed! WTH is going on here???

Can you verify if the file TV3BlasterPlugin.dll is still located in your Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\Plugins directory?

uninstalled and resinstalled the entire IRSS and the patch. It works again dispite the error message still poping up in windows about the media center receiver service stopped responding

edit: didnt see your other two posts, will check now

You can try the 2nd post here to disable VMC. As far as I know they should not be used together.

that particular process will not work on vista, and my internet searches havent come up with any way to disable it. I just went into the control panel-->admin --> services and set anything with Media Center to disabled.

Can you verify if the file TV3BlasterPlugin.dll is still located in your Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal TV Server\Plugins directory?

well now I can, as I uninstalled and reinstalled. I will see if it happens again, and if the .dll file is still there.

I disabled VMC via services... lets hope that works.

I am going to start a new thread on getting the Gyration remote to work. I did some digging and it looks like others have sucessfully got the remote to work with MP, but I dont see anything about getting it working with the blaster. I am sure we can figure it out!
