"Not enough disk space" with live TV (1 Viewer)

Did anybody ever find a solution to the "not enough disk space" error with live TV? My system does it annoyingly regularly since a few MP versions ago - sometimes picking a different channel sorts it out, sometimes the only solution is to restart MP.

I'm using a 4GB USB drive for timeshift (and yes, it was working fine for more than a year, before anybody says it's not possible) and used to have the buffer files set to almost fill that space. Since the problem was introduced, I've reduced the buffer files down to hardly anything but it's made no difference.

It sounds similar to this problem, which claims to have been fixed ages ago, so I assume it's something else. I can't see anything in the roadmap relating to fixing the problem, although I'm sure it used to be in there.

Any suggestions without having the logs? If not, I'll try to grab a log next time it happens.

I thought it was a known bug that was going to be fixed, but people seem to have stopped discussing it and it's disappeared from the roadmap. As far as I know it only affects people using a small partition (usually RAM disk or flash stick) for timeshift.

I've tried to work around the problem on my system by setting up a batch file to delete everything in the timeshift directory when the machine resumes from hibernate, to make sure no stray files remain to confuse MP's disk space check. I found a little utility (Hibernate Trigger) that can run a command on resume from hibernate - seems to work fine on XP, although they say it's not good on Vista.

I only did that a couple of days ago, so I can't really say yet whether it's stopped the problem.

Are you sure that your timeshift settings (min files, filesize) are correct.
My timeshift folder is on a 300Mb ramdisk and I haven't problems with it.

It's really important that the min files and filesize are not to big, else you get "Not enough disk space"
This link is for an ramdisk, but you must do the same with an usb drive.

Yes, the buffer file settings are fine (if they were set too big, wouldn't it be impossible to watch live TV at all, rather than just occasionally?). I used to run it so it was using nearly all the 4GB space and it was fine until a couple of releases ago (one of the 1.0 RC releases I think). Lots of people were talking about it and saying it was a bug with clearing up old files, and suggesting setting the buffer size to less than half the available space. I've dropped mine down to way less than 2GB on the 4GB drive an it still does it.

BTW - that thing I did with Hibernate Trigger to delete all the timeshift files on resume hasn't got rid of the problem, it did it again today.
