I have setup my pc to go into standby when I press power, and when I do this it does indeed go into standby (with a bloody annoying blue flashing LED on the case that I must get round to disconnecting - lol)...

The problem is getting the bugger to wake up... when in standby, I can not use the remote to wake up the pc... I have to press the power button - no biggy...

I have setup powerscheduler plugin to resume from standby to record or to grab epg (I use xmltv to update from a xml file on my network once a day that I use to feed a couple of pcs) but it simply doesnt wake up.

I also have it set to restart tv service on wakeup, but I dont think this is happening either - mediaportal application restarts ok on resume.

The net result is after a standby session say overnight, half the time tv does not work and needs a complete reboot to get itself working again.

Any logs I can look at or post to get advice on this?

Hi,
The must common answer to why your remote is not working when the computer is in standby is be cause you would have it plugged into a usb port which doesn't have power when the computer is in standby.
Have a look in the mother board manual and find the jumper setting to enable power to the usb ports when in standby. It might even just be a setting in the bios.

With the tv not working, are you putting the computer into standby from the main menu or the TV area?
The best way is to setup powerscheduler to put the computer into standby when left at the main menu for a set time?
eg: 10 mins.

EDIT: actually this doesn't seem to be the same problem as described in the original post.

I have exact the same problem with RC2. With older versions of MP there has been nog problems with this. I can use the remote to wake up the computer and it does go to sleep with no problems. I have however configured a wake up at 04:00 every morning for EPG refresh and for some reason the htpc is on but freezed, showing a black screen when I get up in the morning. The only thing that can be done at that point is to reset the htpc.

The BIOS version is same as before and so are the BIOS settings so I do not think that's the issue.

If you have a mouse attached, does the black screen go, i know sometimes the graphics driver does not initiliase correctly after S3, which mouse movement seems to overcome, this is only to prove if its graphics related, if not please provide logs after the event has happened.

I think I solved the problem. Everything was related to a very nice brand new "VIA - Network - VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter"-driver for my NIC that I got from Windows Update . I rolled back to the earlier driver and now everything is fine. Thanks for your support!

gunck, I notice you have an nVidia card. I had similar problems with hibernate (S4) mode with XP MCE as well as MP 0.2x and 1.0 RCs.
I finally gave up and yanked my nVidia 6600 and replaced it with an ATI 3450, which works much better in this regard.

Thanks for your help but actually I solved the problem by downgrading to a clean RC2 installation. Now I have no issues with suspend/resume from S3 anymore.
