Hulu is geoblocking people outside US ...

I'll find this blocking of IPs from other regions very undemocratic anyway. Is there a general way to bypass this?

Sure, there is a very simple way. Just use VPN server. For example strongvpn provides such kind of services. It is not free of charge but quite affordable.

Any of the mod's want to step in here?
Personally I'd rather NOT the BBC (or others) close down this site for encouraging ILLEGAL activities...

The usage/discussions of proxies is about as illegal as usage/discussion of a bittorrent client...

    Cmon ^^

The USAGE of BT isn't illegal - it's the content of what you are downloading that may be (subject to copyright).
The guys here asked how to bypass copyright protection, placed to protect content crossing international boundaries - also illegal. This is true in both the UK, and Germany (where the MP servers are).
I agree that it's a bit trivial, BUT I have seen where this has happened in the past (as an extreme case Mininova fell foul of this, providing information enabling the access of copyrighted material).

Sadly, where the law is concerned, common sense and public opinion count for nothing :(
Still - as no mods have complained I'll shut my gob!

No it is not. What is so illegal about vpn?

I think DieBagger's point was that usage/discussion of neither vpn nor bittorent clients are in violation of any laws.

    Re: OnlineVideos 0.20 (18.04.2010)

Here are a few things I have run into lately that could use some improvement:
    1. Downloading videos
This is a great feature which often gives me a better viewing experience than just calling up the desired video directly, but:
    a) The "spinner" indicating that MP is busy only stays on the screen briefly. However, Online Videos doesn't seem able to do anything else while a download is in progress. It is probably too much to ask Online Videos to support multi-threaded, parallel downloads, so I would settle for having the "wait" indicator displayed until the current download is complete.
    b) There doesn't appear to be any error checking for downloading the same file twice. When I inadvertently try to do this, I get an "unhandled exception" message box complaining about the duplicate. Fortunately, I can just choose "Weiter" (continue) and no harm seems to be done.
    c) The PIN feature is handy to keep kids from finding things they shouldn't online, but there appears to be no such protection for downloaded videos. How difficult would it be to extend PIN protection to the download directory, or a subdirectory thereof?
    2. SF1 (Switzerland)
hasn't worked properly since I upgraded to RC3.
When I select a video to play or download, I get a popup menu offering 3 FLV files of different sizes. None of them work, although other channels using FLV work OK. Even more confusing is the fact that the logs (attached) indicate that the referenced files are in fact MP4, not FLV!??
    a) When I try to download a video (e.g. "10 vor 10"), I get an error dialog saying the clip can't be found, which I can close normally.
    b) When I try to play a video directly from the Online Videos menu, I get a different error message (SF1.jpg, attached), which often cannot be closed other than by "killing" MP. I generally have better luck closing it with the "ESC" key or the "Back" remote button. Trying to close it by clicking on the "OK" in the upper right hand corner, or by just pressing "return" or "enter" doesn't seem to work at all.
These are all only minor inconveniences, and I will understand if there are higher priority things on the "todo" list.
:D again for the great plug-in!

    1. Actually OnlineVideos allows you to download as many as you want at the same time because each download in done seperately in its own background thread. I have done so many times. the wait cursor will only display as long as the url to be downloaded is retrieved from the siteutil. I ddon't want it to display all the time the download is in progress, that'd be annoying.
There is no error check for downlaoding the same again that's true. I'll add that.
With the release of 0.21 the downloads will be put in seperate folders according to their site and pin protection will be applied. This is already in SVN ;)

SF1 problems: SF1 has many clips that are split into smaller parts. This is not fully supported with downloading yet.

    Greetings!

    Hi offbyone,
    :D for the quick response.
I must be doing something wrong about the downloads.
I usually download by pressing the "info" button on my remote and then picking the 3d option from the pop-up menu.
When there is already something downloading, I can't get the cursor in the pop-menu to move, so I can't select the "downoload" option. Is there a better way to do this?

    AW: OnlineVideos 0.20 (18.04.2010)

SF1 is working in the current SVN build but it needs an update of Onlinevideos since our RTMP Player has changed. You have to wait until 0.21 released.
