@joecrow from your first logs i do not see anything, it seems the log was created directly after startup.
anyhow, i also experienced the sound issue, hoped that it was only my system.
But i think we have to dig deeper here, i currently have no real clue
from the onlinevideos you see the "playlist which gets loaded"
if you open the playlist in vlc (Ctrl-N open network stream) you get sound, so technically sound is available.
from technical perspective the LiveStream is only one playlist (master.m3u8) which contains the stream in four dimensions (qualities)
these are the qualities which can be selected. so there are no more streams and if you navigate to live stream in browser, via ard mediathek (Das Erste Livestream) you will also get sound.
i also experienced sometimes: After switching between several ard live streams sound appears in "das erste"
but you are right, some streams fail regularly or by default into the no sound issue, others not.
So it really needs some deeper investigations here, @doskabouter do you have an idea how we can get the cause?

Well if that m3u8 contain multiple resolutions you could fetch the contents of that m3u8 and selecting one of the resolutions yourself.
It could be that there is a videostream which also contain audio (you have to try a bit to see if thats true), if so: return that url in the getvideourl function.
If not (and in that case there defenitely should be a audiostream url too) only option is to bypass MPUrlSourceSplitter and hope LAV can make something out of it.
Only other (way harder) option is to see if MPUrlSourceSplitter can merge these 2 streams into one that can be fed into the MediaportalPlayer

Great news, many thanks!!! I tried ARD Mediathek out today very briefly. (I didn't know about the global repository in the settings, so it took me some time to figure that out.) I could watch some streams, that was awesome. What I noticed that some categories didn't work initially (error was "Zeitüberschreitung beim Abrufen der dynamischen Bibliotheken" in most cases), but after trying a second or third time I got most of them working. I didn't notice any missing sound. I am not using MPUrlSourceSplitter (at least I think I don't).
Just a small remark:
Everyone except a very small select group uses MPUrlSourceSplitter (The Onlinevideos version where you can disable that isn't released yet)

Not sure if it is any help but if I open that stream in MPC-BE I get the same problem, sometimes audio, sometimes not. I tried with both external LAV (same as MP) and using the internal filters, both had the problem. VLC though seems to get audio every time.
Vlc is adding a lot of functionality on top of the existing codecs so that's why it plays almost everything correctly
Hi again, I am suddenly having an issue with ZDF streams on one of my PCs (on the other PC, everything is still working. The ZDF streams start to load (progress circle and percentage), but fail to start with error "Abspielen nicht möglich". ARD mediathek works on the same PC. In the MP log, I found the following lines:

In MP codec settings, EVR is selected, not VMR9. Does anybody have an idea what might be wrong or how I can narrow down the causes?

I can confirm ZDF Live channels are not working for me also when I select the MPUrlSourceSplitter (catchup is still good) but no problem with LAV! I am seeing a different error to that reported above see attached screenshot and log extract below but I do use Madvr rather than EVR so maybe that is the difference.
. All my other sites are working as expected.

BTW question for @astronaut if you play ARD programs at 1280x720 does your audio stutter?

hm, this might be some unrecognized audiostream. I'll put it on my list to check

First one (from @astronaut ) plays fine here probably due to a fix I did on the MPUrlSourceSplitter, can you try updating that and see if that helps?
Second one (from @joecrow ) is geoblocked, so I can't say anything about that...
