Steven, I'm not sure that adding movies to Moving Pictures database is a wanted feature in EVE. Normally movies are added directly in Moving Pictures if you just name the folder correctly, i.e. with IMDB name and year is square brackets.

About home automation, this is kind of hard for me to answer because it is not in the focus of development right now. EVE is developed in Command Fusion, a very powerful home automation software that can talk to almost any device that can handle TCPIP or UDP. Patrick and Joost started the project where they used Hosebot for Home automation. It's no problem to change to another software, i.e. EventGhost or Girder. I use girder myself but haven't yet made any attempts to integrate with EVE. It's possible that the home automation part is removed if EVE also is released as a separate application in appstore. We are still in early development and haven't discussed all these parts yet.

    Cheers,

    Johan

I think he means that MPExtended should run the Moving Pictures importer (that now only happens when you use Moving Pictures in MP). It's somewhere in our issue tracker but really low-priority as it's hard to integrate.

Fair enough, It was just an idea. Any indictions on when we might be able start testing EVE??

can we imagine that the MediaPortal run on the desired screen, is on a fixed position, such as a custom wallpaper, and that only starts the videos?

    Hello,
If you change basic home, to be inactive, that is just a wallpaper (no menu), MP will play the videos there?
This will be a dedicated PC MP, with a still image, and just one control with iPad.
    Thanks

What you guys mean is that the TV only acts as a playing screen. And that control, browsing, etc takes place on the iPad.
That was indeed an option we considered when we started Eve. It would be an user option. However we discarded the idea eventually.
We believe that the iPad in most cases wont replace the normal remote control. But is an extension to the existing controlling devices. Especially in multi user environments (families, couples).

So, that way I want to use this is as follows: I don't have a remote for my machine so I'd be looking to browse the films/tv series on the ipad, select a film I wish to view and then press play on the ipad and it appears on my tv. I assume that this will be possible as I only use mepo for films/tv series but not tv viewing as I have sky.

    Thanks in advance.

Movies and TV series (and ofc. Live TV, music, radio, recordings, pictures) play on your TV by pressing play in Eve. :)
