The data is actually pulled from http://tvdb.zsori.com/ and not from tv.com. On tv.com the miniseries is listed as the first 4 episodes but the episode "33" is still episode s01e01 even though its listed as episode 5. I think the problem is, that tvdb just lets you give an episode a number and the plugin assumes that this number matches the episode number in the file. There are other examples of special episodes in between the season which are numbered as a regular episode and thereby produce a naming error. Maybe tvdb can integrate another field which will be named the actual episode number rather than the current "produced" number available. To distinguish they could just write (in that example) that episode "33" is episode 5 but also episode 1x01. For a smooth transition they could just assume (for now) that the episode numbers are correct and let the users change them to the correct numbers - or pull the correct numbers from epguides.com or tv.com.

We've gone over this (episode numbering) in-depth on the MeediOS forums. The issue is that none of the online guides follow a "standard" numbering for certain shows. Certain shows are numbered a certain way until the DVD boxsets come out and then they're ordered differently (Firefly). Others are grouped into completely different seasons (Futurama, Family Guy). Some have 2 part intro movies (Stargate SG1) that can either be grouped together as 1 entry, entered separately, or left out entirely since they're movies (X-Files: Fight the Future between seasons 4 and 5, or whenever it was). EpGuides, tvrage, tv.com, etc all handle certain shows differently.

I'll be adding a forum to the tvdb site where each series can link to its own thread about numbering schemes. That should allow discourse about how each should be handled, since each show is different.

Until then, the site administrators (mostly myself, with input from others) have decided that the Air Date order should be the primary order for episodes, since this is the order that we first know about. I added fields to allow for the DVD order (and season/chapter for direct linking) so plugins can sort each series differently if desired. Shows that everyone accepts the order for (Firefly) can be list by their intended order.

This is a really annoying issue, so I'm happy to hear alternate ideas if anyone has them. Either post them here, email me at scott-tvdb@zsori.com, or wait until I get the forums up on my site.

love the plugin, seems to be coming along nicely. Looks like it has parsed everything correctly (tho i have found the default seems to cut some of the filenames down, should be easily solved myself). It even has anime on Szori's database :D

Just two issues i seem to have, i'm not getting any episode summarys at all and am also missing banners for all series.

Could be to do with the fact i hadn't removed the old tv series plugin before i put this is. Might have a go at deleting the old databases to see if it's interfering or something.

Simpsons
lost
heroes

saved
the nine
spin city

they all seem to have banners on szori's website and i actually have the banner saved from the meetvshows website as i used them in the last tvseries plugin

i think u need to delete the tvseriesdatabase that was created from the old myTVSeries plugin. Backup ur tvseriesdatabase then delete it and run the new plugin configuration and start portin ur new series and banners. Faster more accurate. I personally have 5 of all those series plus another 15 and all ported in just fine with 0 problems including banners and full details.

i have already tried deleting the old database and retrying the import but for some reason i am still missing the banners and episode summaries

also I have episodes with '.' s in the file names and i want to keep them but the current regexp i'm using reads them as a blank space

^.*?\\?(?<series>[^\\$]+?)(?:s(?<season>[0-1]?[0-9])e(?<episode>[0-9]{2})|(?<season>(?:[0-1][0-9]|(?<!\d)[0-9]))x?(?<episode>[0-9]{2}))(?!\d)[ \-\.]*(?<title>[^\\]*?)\.(?<ext>[^.]*)$

have tried a few combinations without any luck

Cannot really help a Regex without an example file and path ;)

That said, I think this will fix you dot/space problem, look under
Import Setting->String Replacements
and UN-check the one for the Replace this '.' with space.

Got a feature request for ya! how about the possibilitie to rename the episodes.
example lets say all the files in my folder "scrubs\"have a format Scrubs-02x03-My.Fallen.Angel.avi and I want the format to be "Scrubs - S02E03 - My Fallen Angel.avi" anything that is possible? or am I the only one who wants such a feature? thanks in advance
