I would actually be interested in an 'instant only' version of the plug-in, less for speed and more for the streamlined experience. I have enough laptops for managing queues etc, the HTPC is only used for accessing the instant streaming content.

Yeah thats what I was thinking, although once you've loaded everything in your hard drive database, it does go much faster next time around. But like I said, I will never use any of those other menus so its just nice to have the option to remove them.

Wile - disabling the scripts works! YAY. I can use my PC, windows runs on screen #2 no prob. I'm going to order my remote right away so I can stop theorizing and see how its going to work in practice. Only prob I see here is once I lose focus of the NF window on screen 2, how do I get focus back to close it with the remote? In my test, when I selected it with the mouse on screen one, hit Alt F4, I then lost focus of the MP window?

Anyway, coming along nicely. Thanks man. Please advise.

Hey Wilie,

1) I tried to use IE instead of my default browser but adding "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe - k" to the setup. It didnt work, got the error "cannot find webbrowser.exe". Running IE in kiosk mode sounds like the best solution to this problem. I ran a test and it works nicely, although I would just need to key Alt-F4 to a button on my remote at some point. Any ideas to get kiosk mode working properly?

2) I'm using Streamed MP. All my wallpapers are 1920X1080 @ high DPIs so they look very nice. Was just curious if we could select the res (like in Moving Pictures, only pulls certain fanart).

4) Will it still be possible to use the remote to control Netflix in the kiosk window? Hardly need any functionality, although a pause, FF and rewind button may be nice. Also would need to close the window when I'm done. With the new .dll, will I still be able to use the remote? Thanks man.

1. Not sure why that didnt work. I know you can add the browser (maybe I will add a checkbox to the config for Kiosk mode and add the flag when starting the browser.) Keep in mind, if the browser is kicked off by the NetFlix application, it knows when you hit the Stop button and will automatically close the browser window.

2. Since the Fanart/Coverart is pulled on the fly (unlike Moving Pictures, My TVSeries, etc) I have to optimize for speed. So if each Fanart/Coverart image is 1MB, imagine how slow that would be loading...

As I posted earlier, if you hit the Stop button on the remote, it keeps track of the process ID and will automatically close the browser window. (As long as the browser window is opened from the My NetFlix plugin.)

Is it possible then to run the script, but limit any shortcuts to basically pause, play, FF, RW, volume up/down and close so they dont mess with my keyboard? Is it possible to remap these few values to include a modifier (eg. say P on the keyboard is play, map P to Alt-P so that when I hit P on my keyboard, it wont interfere. I can then map a button on my remote to Alt-P.) Will this work?

Something has changed in that new .dll I installed. It seems to not be running the NF window properly in full screen. I launched it in IE (left out kiosk modifier for now), and its doing to same as Chrome was. I can see the blue bar at the top, and its in windowed mode, on my PC and TV. Last night it was working perfectly in full screen, centered and big. I have to manually use my mouse to click on "full screen" now to get it working properly.

I think instead of trying to debug this, lets see if the kiosk mode will automatically take care of it. I dont know much about HTML but I can get my buddy to look at it (see why the shortcut specifyer in the config panel isnt going to kiosk mode). Personally I think it has something to do with the space after iexlore.exe -k. Its looking for the full path and not using it as a modifier. I even tried putting it in bettween " " like when creating shortcuts. Didnt work. Please let me know what you have in your path? Thanks man.

Should the plugin work on 0.2.3.0? I was able to get to my queues but cannot play any of the movies. I cannot run 1.x because of hardware restrictions.

To be honest Im not sure. I have never installed the 0.2.3 version If you could copy your logs (after an error occurs) and I can take a look to see if I can resolve...

I did look at the error log and saw the plugin was trying to invoke a non-existing method in one of the MP core classes, something like getCurrentPage, I will post logs tonight when I get home. Thanks!

The kiosk mode on my TV looks cool. Still have the Netflix bar at the bottom (play, scroll etc), but at least it looks like its in full screen mode with no borders. Still hoping I can launch in kiosk mode - it definitely solves to dual monitor problem.

Update: By the way, this is what I did. I'm using IE for TV, and Chrome for PC. That way the browers are independent, and the window remembers where it closed for IE. Its a plausible work around. Netflix now opens on my TV in kiosk mode in IE, always. Still have the prob with the netflix app appearing in the top 50%.

What I am missing is a netflix shortfut to full screen the TV without a script

Update: Wile, I think the kiosk mode is also very dependent on the movie. Some load top 50%, some load bigger. I dunno man. I really hate the Silverlight viewing app, it sucks balls. The Hulu app is so sexy. I've set that up as well, created a profile, subscribed to shows. Its free. Its fast. Its so awesome. COMON NETFLIX, GYST!

Anyway thanks man. I think this is probably as good as it gets for me. I hope they update their app soon.

Wile - how do I get my IE Netflix window focused again if I've lost focus, without running your scripts (ie. the Alt-Tab equivalent of switching windows). I can map something to my remote I'm sure. Just wanted to ask how I would do that. Thanks.

MyNetFlixMain:OnAction(): Error Playing Movie: WALL-E : Method not found: 'Int32 MediaPortal.GUI.Library.GUIGraphicsContext.get_currentScreenNumber()'.

If this is something that can be worked around by not calling methods added post 0.2.3 I'd be a happy man! Thanks for the great plugin in any case!

Hmmm... If I PM you a list of files (sometime this week), could you zip them up and email them to me? If I have your 0.2.3.0 MP files I can compile against them and fix the errors...

Okay Guys & Gals,
On the lighter side a little, I know sometimes the DVD/Blu-ray covers dont always match the Fanart, so share with us the funniest combination you have seen thus far... My favorite so far has been a cover of "No Escape" with Ray Liotta (a shoot-em-up movie) with the Fanart of the cartoon Madagasgar. For some reason that is hilarious to me...

I have a movie named "Pigs" that is about a college guy trying to score with a girl named with every letter of the alphabet... I can't find any real fanart for it, so MetaBrowser kept coming up with a backdrop from the kids' cartoon "Three Little Pigs"... it was good for a chuckle the first few times it happened.
