humm, ok i configure the zap2it plugin, and i dont think mp ever updates it. i dont see an epg in the log folder. i do have a zap2it account, and have used this in the past. if i go to the third tab in the plugin config, i can get my info from zap2it.....any ideas? i am using mp 2.2.0, i just installed it today.

I'm unable to download the attached files for the Zap2It-Plugin-v1.8a. Is there something special I need to do? It just asks me to log in again and again.

If there is no log it is usually that you have the wrong version of the plugin as the logging in MP has changed several times in the last few months.
Make sure you are using the correct and newest version of the plugin.

Not sure, they were doing some updates to the forum yesterday so maybe
it still has/had some kinks.

I've cut and paste here the error log file.

2007-01-08 12:53:24.835125 [ERROR][MPMain]: Unable to start plugin: ProcessPlugins.EpgGrabber.Zap2itPlugin exception : System.MissingMethodException : Method not found: 'Void MediaPortal.GUI.Library.Log.WriteFile(MediaPortal.Services.LogType, System.String, System.Object[])'.

What version of MP(including date of any SVN installed)
and what version of the plugin are you using.
There have been/are many changes to logging and settings within
MP that have version compatibility a little difficult.

I'm getting this same error using 1.7. I was able to download 1.8 for 0.2.2 stable today. Does that fix the issue? Is there something else I need to do to correct it?

Hi,


The problem is zap2it has assigned the same Station ID to the two channels.
Actually this has happened for several channels in your lineup.

What you are seeing is it is encountering the 1914 channel first and creating
the MP channel, mapping it to external channel 1914 and naming
it "1914 FOOD", then it hits the 44 channel and renames it "44 FOOD".

I have seen this before, but only for PPV or OnDemand type channels which usually do not have program data anyway.

The zap2it plugin uses this ID for mapping, so I cannot
think of a way to work around this with the way the plugin
is currently written.

If you are only interested in either one or the other channel
you can specify this @ the zap2it web site.
For example, if you are only interested in the "44 FOOD" channel
you can log into the labs.zap2it.com site and uncheck the "1914 FOOD"
channel from your lineup.

I will have to think about it a little as it is a little more complicated then just adding a channel number to the ID.
In the MP TVDatabase class the only way to get the channel number
for an epgmapping is using this ID, so its a chicken and egg type thing.
(Can't get the mapped channel number without the ID, and can't get the ID without the channel number)

If I have time over the weekend I will see what I can come up with.

It didn't allow me to specify S-VIDEO and wanted to me to change all 500 channels to S-VIDEO manually (not that that's important). However, it did get all the channels in the correct order with their proper tags. XMLTV is open source, so maybe some of their code could be borrowed? XMLTV I believe is used for other projects such as GB-PVR (I use now and hate) and MythTV. I have used both of these programs and both have accurately received the EPG data. Please Note, I'm not trying to be rude or anything. I'm just trying to help.

v1.8 for 0.2.2 stable should fix it if you are using the MP 0.2.2 stable release.
If you have applied SVN updates then you will need the SVN version.

XMLTV and this plugin receive the same data from zap2it so it is not about that.

Like I said adding some type of channel number to the ID will probably be
the solution but it is making that work with the methods available with
the TVDatabase.

P.S. For XMLTV I think there is a flag/switch you can add that specifies adding
the Channel Number to the ID.

The Operation has Timed Out!

First off, Thank You to everyone who has put so much hard work into this plugin!


I just installed the plugin today and I'm having a problem getting anything from Zap2It. I used to get stuff from them with XMLTV, but then that stopped and I found this. My Zap2it account is up-to-date and working and I can get my lineup from Zap2it and get the channels as well. But, when I try to "Save lineup to Zap2it" I get an error message that says "The operation has timed out". I'm not sure if I have to click that last button or not, but I've tried not clicking it and I get no network activity (even if I leave it for 30-45 minutes as suggested). I've also tried deleting all my channels and re-tuning them, but it still didn't seem to make a difference. I've looked for the log, but there is no epg.log in the logs folder.

Your help is much appreciated!

What version of MediaPortal do you have installed? Please ensure you are using the proper plugin version for the installation you are running. If you do not have an epg.log file in the MediaPortal/log directory, it sounds like you may have the incorrect version installed.

Also, don't try to modify your lineup with this plugin. It always times out for whatever reason. Make changes to your lineup via the zap2it website.
