Sorry about that. I am at work now and will be busy this evening but I will look into things further tomorrow morning.

New release that should fix the problem is below. Have been testing all day and can no longer reproduce but if anyone still has any problems please let me know. You can of course update via MPEI as well.

Hi fforde,

I have a question. I too have been having the problem with the Pandora plugin crashing around 30 minutes or so, but I haven't tried the update yet but I will. My question is a bit different. I love your plugin and Pandora so much that I paid for the upgrade to "Pandora One" for $36 US per year. This should get rid of Ads. etc. But when I try to fast forward through songs, eventually I get the message "Pandora - Unfortunately our music licenses force us to limit the number of songs you may skip. If you want to hear something else, try switching to another station."

Is this a limitation coming from Pandora directly? or is the plugin limiting the number of fast-forward skips and then displaying this message? If this is coming from the plugin, can you remove this limitation for those with the upgrade? In other words, does the plugin read the return results from Pandora? or does the plugin simply display this message after X amount of fast-forwards? For us Pandora One upgraders, I would assume Pandora does not limit us to fast-forwards and I can not find anything in their documentation about this. If this is the plugin's logic, are you able to tell if we are Pandora One subscribers and remove this limitation? I'd love to fast-forward as much as I want if possible.

Would you be so kind as to shed some light on this for me/us? Thank you in advance.

From their "faq blog"

  • All Pandora listeners are limited to 6 skips per hour, per station.
  • Free, ad-supported Pandora accounts are limited to 12 total skips per day, across all stations.

    Also the Pandora One page:
  • Increased number of skips - The 12 skip per day limit is removed (the 6 skips per station per hour limit remains)

This is the plugin enforcing Pandora's policy. We will not be changing it, the purpose of this plugin is to bring Pandora to a new platform, not circumvent their policies. Sorry. Try up and down voting songs, if you do this before long you will get a station with content you never feel like skipping past. Also consider making themed stations. For example sometimes I enjoy listening to lighter music like Coldplay or Muse, other times I feel like something with some more kick like Nine Inch Nails or Tool. So I have different stations for my varying tastes.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't aware of the skip policy and I really wasn't trying to have the plugin changed to circumvent anything. Actually, I've been voting songs up and down like crazy on a station I put together with a bunch of artists I like. I had some time on my hands and wanted to vote through songs at a quicker pace. But I understand. I'll relax.

Thanks for the cool plugin. Using it a lot.

Hey Fford, I've ramped up my usage of this plug-in a ton. I started getting random crashes about a week ago when playing for what seems 30 to 45 mins (seems different every time). I can't start playing again until I restart MP. I'm using the most current 1.2.7 version. Any ideas?

Side question, have you started working on your Channels plug-in I read about in your On the couch interview? I've was so excited to hear about this plug-in, just wondering if you happen to make or start any progress on it?

Hrmm... well the issue in your log file should already be fixed. I have not been using the plugin much this week though, I will try to reproduce.

As far as a "channels" plugin goes, this is something that I think would be cool, but like I mentioned in the article it is not something I really have time for right now. If someone else were to run with the idea though I would definately support it and maybe contribute when I had the time.

I have not had any crashes since fforde's last release. Just this morning, I listened to it for 2 hours with no issues.
