Okay I have a new build for you guys and this one should be stable. Basically Pandora has two API's that can be used to connect to their service, the one used by the website and the one used by everything else (mostly mobile devices). To solve our issues we had to switch to the mobile API.

Because this is used on multiple platforms it is likely this API will be more stable which will hopefully translate to fewer breaking changes going forward. On the other hand the mobile API is mostly meant for mobile devices so currently we are not able to get higher quality audio for Pandora One subscribers. I will try to work on this in the near future though, it should be possible.

The second "problem" is the advertisement hooks are different so we need to rewrite this code. I do think it is important to honor the wishes of Pandora as much as possible so I am going to try to add this back in, but for now the plugin is ad-free.

Thanks for your patience folks.

That looks like an MPEI Installer problem to me Helidath. You might want to talk to the MPEI folks, I do not really have much control over that code. You could easily work around the problem though by grabbing the ZIP and just dropping the DLL in your plugins folder.

Thanks fforde. I did use the zip files but unfortunately when go to configure it in mediaportal it crashes. I think I have a different issue that may be unrelated to PandoraMusicBox.

Well you might want to try deleting the Pandora Musicbox configuration file. Shutdown MediaPortal and the config, enter the following path in your file browser and then delete the file musicbox.xml. After doing this you will need to re-enter your Pandora login information in the config.
Code:
%programdata%\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal\
If this does not resolve your problem then post your log files that you grabbed directly after reproducing the crash and I will take a closer look. Either you have found a new bug that I get to fix or I at least will help you eliminate Pandora MusicBox as the cause of the problem.

To begin with, please keep in mind that these things are hard to diagnose because the Pandora API is unpublished, so I am working half blind here. That said based on my tests (tonight and in the past) I think the error code you are receiving (1002) means you have entered an invalid user name or password. However I would not expect this to cause a crash. I went into the config and entered invalid login credentials and generated an identical pandoramusicbox.log file, but still did not get a crash. I am running MediaPortal 1.2.2 on my test machine though which is one release behind, it is getting late here so tomorrow evening I will install 1.2.3 and retest. In the mean time if you could verify your login credentials on the Pandora website that would be very helpful.

I verified my account information and even tested with a separate account. I get the same crash on both accounts.

Sorry Helidath, I am having a very hard time figuring out what is going on here.
  1. I can not reproduce your crash at all.
  2. Assuming your login credentials are valid, you should not be getting the error you are getting in the pandoramusicbox.log file.
  3. The errors that are logged in your pandoramusicbox.log file could not cause a crash.
  4. Despite the above, PandoraMusicBox is mentioned in the crash event in the system application log.
So can you think of any additional information you could provide? I saw in your log that you attempted to log in with two separate email addresses in a single session, does the crash not always occur when trying to log in? Can you go into more detail about what you were doing when the crash occurs? And have you been experiencing any other problems lately?

Also are you a new user or did the plugin work fine for you last week before all the API changes?

fforde, thanks for the help with this. I started having some issues with other things within MP. I did a system restore a few days back and something was weird about it. So, to save myself, and you, and every other helpful person on this board, as much time as possible I decided to do a reformat (not a big deal as I was only a few days into my new HTPC build). Seriously tho, fforde, thank you for the help with this one and previous issues, and thanks for PandoraMusicBox!
