I have a similar problem. My system has two TV cards, a PVR-350 (analog harware encoding, PCI) and a HVR-900 (hybrid USB, but I only set up the DVB-T part). My system hibernates (or suspends) fine, and when it resumes the PVR works just fine, but the HVR stutters badly. Closing and reopening Media Portal fixes the stuttering with the HVR.

I posted the issue on the Test Team web, and was replied that MP wasn't properly releasing the TV card before hibernation, or maybe wasn't reseting it after resuming. But no fix was done :( .

    Same problem here.

Can confirm the problem. Have a single PVR350, exactly the same behaviour. 100% CPU and no reaction. Eventlog reports some "VC80 assembly problem... "

This worked perfect up to RC4.

Then I don't remember with release/patch/SVN this occured, either in the R02 or the patch afterwards. Will check this tonight when back at home.

    Regards
    /Gerd

I'm not having this issue with my PVR-350, and your setup and mine are very similar: nForce 2 chipset, ATI 9600, Hauppauge PVR-350, AMD XP2500+.

Have you tried hibernating when MP is not running, resuming, and opening WinTV2K to see if TV playback is working well? That could rule out problems with MP.

    working again

    @igalan
I could solve my problems with hibernation and 'black screen after resume'.

It was mostly a self caused problem with obviously no relation to MP.

I enabled the IEE1394 adapter ( firewire ) on the board, but did not install the correct drivers. XP complained about a 'missing or invalid driver',
but I could not find the correct one. Installed the complete nvidida chipset driver set again, but the firewire driver was not among them. That additional driver installation spoiled my complete XP, resulting in much more weird behaviour of MP.

So I restored a previous disc image, installed MP R0.2 and the stable patch and everything is ok (so far).

So the consequence for me and perhaps everybody facing such problem: Take a look to your controlpanel->system-> hardware and watch for an exclamation mark. As long as you see one there, you run into trouble with hibernation.

    Update on this topic

New update installed from 22nd July, set powerscheduler to hibernate after 10 minutes idle time in homescreen, power up is set for 5 mins. before record, prerecord set at 2 mins.
Comes out of hibernate ok, MP homescreen appears and then freezes at the point of recording starts. Still appears to be loss of drivers causing MP to crash and lock up the system, requiring a reboot.
Any suggestions more than welcome

Today there is a new stable release, some issues about hibernation have been fixed, so it's worth to try. I've just installed it, I hope this summer I can allow my HTPC to bibernate while I'm away and not worry about bad recordings, fingers crossed :) .

    Hi All

New update, something I did a few months ago was go wireless, and i disabled the lan connection within device manager, which did not seem to affect MP.
Sooo the update, Have now turned off the lan in the bios, deinstalled MP completely including folder, run Reg Mechanic and rebooted, reinstalled MP0.2 + update 0.2.0.2, reconfigured all (pain but sometimes neccessary) also set cards to record to seperate harddrives (have 3 but originally set to the fastest+biggest drive which was sata) and now seems to not give any problem with the record side and freezing after hibernate.
Still waiting to fully test on the Scheduler side, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed, as not too MP'ers have jumped on the bandwagon to say they have the same problem.

    Best wishes to All

    I'm glad it's not fixed for you :) .

Unfortunately for me it's still not working well :( . At some point I will restore a Ghost image of a clean installation and start over, but I'm not confident this will work.

My problems continued with 0.2 release, as well as the 0.2.0.2 random lockups when restoring the PC from S3.

So I rolled back to RC4 (no SVN) and it has been working fine all weekend, solid as a rock, so it appears to be behaviour introduced some time since RC4. I'm going to work my way through the various SVNs to see if I can pinpoint the occurrence (as the problem is intermittent it is going to take some time).

I'm assuming it must be related to handling of TV card drivers in suspend situations (how MP is shutting down the drivers, or when?) , as I cannot see how the MP code itself could hang the machine.

It is a real shame as I'm back to the intermittent "no signal" issues, but that is at least better than random locks, resulting in missed recordings. The problem with this is, as no logs get generated, it is very difficult to determine where the hang occurs in the MP code.
