    Dual P3 500, w2ksp4.

The TV server fails to start with the folowing error

Error 1058. The service cannot be started, either because it is dissabled or it has no enabled devices associated with it .

This is with the SVN releases over the last couple of days, I am trying to find how far back the last working release was which will take some time as I can't remember the last time I had it working, I will post back.
also I have been using my dual AMD MP pc w2ksp4 for server duties for a while which works fine.

    There are NO logs as the SETUPTV fails at starting the TV SERVER;

    17/02/2007 19:11:20 ---- start setuptv ----
    17/02/2007 19:11:20 ---- check connection with database ----
    17/02/2007 19:11:27 ---- check if database needs to be updated/created ----
    17/02/2007 19:11:31 ---- check if tvservice is running ----
    17/02/2007 19:11:36 ---- tvservice is not running ----
    17/02/2007 19:12:38 ---- start tvservice----

Is anyone else using a pentium 3 as a server and are they having the same problem with the service failing to start.

I used to have it working but now the last months SVN's and the service fails to start and the only error given is an MS error which is sent to MS. Nothing in the MP server logs at all. Very strange.

    Hey scidoctor,

I can only make a guess here as I don't work on the tvserver, but I would imagine frodo has turned on p4 optimizations with the expectation that everyone is using a p4 or its equivalent. The only other issue I could see is w2k, but I would imagine there are other people on that. Do any tvserver svn's work? Can you try them on a p4 w2k machine?

    Thanks for the reply.

No P4 but the TV server works fine on an AMD dual MP and w2k.

The SVN donload cache doesn't go back far enough to the versions that used to work with the P3 machine I have.

I remember it working in December, but the Tv Server wasn't mature enough and I stuck with V2.0 for the P3.

The CPU architecture is pretty unlikely to effect whether the tv service starts from one install to the other. In any case, I've been using the TV server for a while on a P3 and it's basically usable, albeit a little unstable.

Doing a search for another item I found this old thread and decided to update.

All is working great again and the dual p3 500 is working excellent with the latest SVN's.

The problem was an SVN update had somehow turned off (disabled) the logon hardware profile for the TV service and this needed to be manualy turned back on as any SVN that was installed didn't do this.
