I've got mine mostly working, using Intelliremote. I can turn the PC on with the remote, and the power button even works while I've watching live TV - which rocks. there are a couple of mappings I can't figure out though - is there a shortcut to LiveTV that I can map to the live TV button? I've trawled the FAQ numerous times but I can't see anything vaugely like it.

the other issue I have that's bugging me is the arrow keys - they seem to want to go on a 45 degree angle or jump 2 at a time... but only sometimes. the down arrow seems consistently ok, but the others aren't behaving as they should. I mapped them to the arrow keys on the keyboard, whereas the Intelliremote default mapping is to mouse movements - but this caused more issues than it was worth, so I remapped. anyone else have this problem?

And lastly, last night when I started the PC (from the remote) - the remote then decided it couldn't find the PC dongle - I tried a full reboot etc and nothing worked until I unplugged and re-plugged the USB dongle - though I remember seeing someone else post about this so I'll search.

Otherwise, sorry for so many questions on my first post, and this forum has been extremely helpful in getting my HTPC setup - so thanks to everyone :)

Hi there
Arrow jeys were a problem for me as well - I use the EventGhost system decribed earlier. When I included the arrow keys in the MP setup in the Eventghost MP program I had this problem. Conlcuded that if MP has the focus then Philips sends an arrow key regardless of Eventghost which is the first arrow move then EventGhost sent the second. IF MP did not have focus then firefox or whatever was the focus got the arrow move as well as a single with MP

Solution - turn off those specific keys in the MP sending program (EventGhost in my case) then use the home button to bring focus to MP when first using remote. And all was fixed - works well
Hoppe that make sense but late at night!!

To do what Neville is describing in Intelliremote just set the four Arrow keys in your profile to be a Key Event = <none>. That will tell Intelliremote not to act on these remote buttons when they are pressed and MP will handle those 4 keys.

Can anyone help me work out how to disable the POWER button at the top of the remote so it doesn't suspend the PC?????

I just know "someone" will press it to switch off the TV and it'll actually suspend the PC and I'll get in the shit for not recording something.....

Just to add my experiences with the SRM7500. I use EventGhost with Generic HID enabled in MediaPortal. I had the same issues as nickotron, so I had to remap most keys in EventGhost. Neither of the previous attached xml’s had the same codes, exept arrow keys. Everything works correctly now.

I also wanted to control my amp’s volume via the RF without purchasing USB UIRT or similar hardware. My last remote was the MCE remote with Microsoft Remote Control Receiver 1.0A. It seems that the receiver has also IR blasting capabilities and came with two additional IR emitters. So with a bit (quite a bit) of searching discovered a plugin for EventGhost, described here. Plugin works well though still beta, and is capable to learn IR codes. From there on, captured the amp’s IR codes and mapped them to Volup/voldown and other functions in EventGhost and the TV’s IR codes to Power button. Really happy now :)

To disable Power button, just remap the key to something else in EventGhost or disable the Power 1/Power2 macro in the xml.

    Vista SP2 32bit, MediaPortal 1.0.2.0, EventGhost 0.3.7.r1194, MediaControl 4.0.12.0, MceRemote_Vista_20090907

To disable the power button from setting the Pc to standby and Green Start button to run Media Center and also the left, right, up, down, o.k. keys, You need to disable the LmOneWayService in services. This is a service that is installed with your Philips Remote software and handles the Green Start button and Power Button and left, right, up, down, ok. You can then use intelliremote or eventghost to get those buttons to do what you want. You may need to re-program your other buttons after you do this though, I think the codes change once the philips service is not running.

But once this is done the remote is ready to be used however you want when in PC mode. Add to that the key learn function and it becomes a very powerfull remote for the price.

I set my Green button to start media portal and also to close media portal only after it had found the media portal window. I set the power button to put the PC into standby again anyway as I wanted that. I also set the 16:9 button to restart the PC and the blue button to set the media portal window to front (just in case it wasnt in front, as it happened to me a couple times while configuring and couldnt get it in front without the keyboard or mouse). I dont use those extra little buttons at the bottom for anything else so I thought they would be best for additional functions like that.

To get the PC to come out of standby (S3 suspend to Ram), I had to go into Device Manager and find the "USB Root Hub" that the Philips USB dongle was plugged into and untick "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" in the properties of the USB Root Hub. After that the power button on the remote will bring the PC out of standby in seconds.

So after this I set up a macro (activity) to turn on the amp, tv and bring the PC out of standby. And also set up a macro (activity) to turn off the tv, amp and put the PC into standy.

    I am now a happy man :)

Has anyone had issues with the "MediaControl" portion that gets installed with the SRM7500?

Mine keeps complaining that I haven't selected a media player yet. I select Windowns Media Player on the list yet it still complains that Windows Media Player is not installed..... Even though it is!!!!

Can't find anything on the internet to help.... This worked fine on my old Vista box....

Well that is my question as well. up too now have used WMP to play musics. Since upgrading to Win 7 and thus WMP 12 this no longer works. I have snooped around and cannot find a win media player solution to this

I would now like use the screen with mediaportal (to avoid switching on the TV for music) but have no idea how to do this - any one have any ideas. there was a question a few posts back.....
    thanks for any pointers

I think the screen on the remote talks to the Philips software, which interfaces with whatever media player you select in MediaControl. If you can't select it then the display will not work with that software, so you won't be able to get it to work with MediaPortal.
