Playback of Live TV or recordings not possible on Windows 8 (1 Viewer)

Hi,

I have a problem playing recordings or live TV on my new PC on Windows 8 Pro x64. If I select a recording or live TV then MediaPortal does nothing for a few seconds until the menu is usable again. But playback is not started.
Other media files do play, but I think they are not completely smooth. On the other hand TV and recordings are working fine on my Win 7 HTPC. The server runs Windows 7 Pro, too.

I use the LAV filters for everything. If I try to play the recordings in WMP I only get sound, but no video for most of them. Some play fine.

Is it possible that the ts-files are only working under Windows 8 if the Media Center Pack is installed (which is not)?

Yes. If not I would not be able to browse the recordings or open the EPG, right?

end of file means that tsreader cannot read from rtsp stream (i guess).
have you tried to switch to UNC paths for your MP client?

Using UNC paths everything worked fine. Thank you very much! As this is only available in the debug options are there any downsides using UNC paths?
Why is it not working with the default settings? Do I need to open some ports?

Possibly - RTSP uses both TCP (for initial stream setup) and UDP (for stream data - on random port numbers)

I've had live tv + recordings working using Win8 x64 Pro VL, not sure if that includes media centre pack or not. However I found channel changes slow with occasional crashes. Went back to Win7 x64, much better.
