Playback stops randomly (1 Viewer)

When playing back recorded TV playback randomly stops. It seems to be when there is a transmission error in the file. I can seek past the problem point in the file and occasionally MP will play through the error but usually it always stops in the same place. I have tried a few different audio and video codecs and it's made no difference.
I have attached the logs but I don't see anything interesting in them

Hi birty

I don't see the transmission errors you're referring to, but having said that all the skipping that you're doing in your logs makes those difficult to identify. I know you said you've already tried different codecs, but that would be my recommendation - FFDShow should be more robust if your signal is not that great or your files contain a few errors.

PS: I'm wondering why there are no Microsoft decoders installed on your system if you're using W7 pro.

the skipping is to just before the transmission error. I can play the same file in media player classic with no problems. I uninstalled the microsoft codecs to see if they were the cause of the problem

Hi again birty

Could you please make a clip containing the transmission error with 5-to-10 seconds of good video on either side and upload that to our FTP server. Use TS Packet Editor or similar to be sure to *not* re-encode the video - we want the stream in as "raw" a form as possible. The login details for the FTP server can be found at the bottom of -->this<-- page. Please also be sure to use the naming pattern described on that page.

Hi Birty - I'm not certain it will work in MP 1.1.3, but you could try the TsReader.ax attached to this post - https://forum.team-mediaportal.com/774756-post28.html (just drop it into 'C:\Program Files\Team MediaPortal\MediaPortal' - after making a backup copy of the original file).

We need logs *without* the manual skips to see if there are transmission errors being reported, so please just play a recording until it freezes, then stop playback and post the logs.

I have uploaded a problem file as playback_stops.zip. it breaks at "could life evolve in other places in the galaxy". Interestingly it took a few attempts to get media portal to stop with this file, sometimes the picture would just break up briefly and a couple of times it played flawlessly. The file plays fine in WMP and media player classic.

The sample file plays fine for me (using MP 1.2.0 beta + the TsReader.ax in my the earlier post) - tried it 5-6 times - no stream corruptions logged so no real idea what might be causing the problem - sorry....

Which video & audio decoders have you tried ?

Just to confirm: the clip also plays fine for me without stopping using the latest SVN. At this point my suspicion is that your system is a little underpowered. I would investigate things like codecs and also HDD activity levels - try to use a separate HDD for timeshifting.

it used to work fine, I've only had the problem since doing a clean install of windows 7 and the latest media portal. I do have 2 hdd which I split the load over. How stable is the latest beta? is it worth installing?
