I'm on satellite : Astra 1 + 3 (TV-Vlaanderen -Flemish/Dutch channels + German channels) + Astra 2 (English channels). As I already have said, EPG grabbing works without problems if "idle grabbing" is selected. The problem is starting EPG grabbing by PowerScheduler++ in case "idle EPG grabbing" is OFF. So, there is probably an EPG grabbing bug. I suppose so. Thanks for the tip to uncheck the option "store date only for selected channels". But if I understand this correct, in this case the EPG will be grabbed for ALL channels. This is not needed and it will take even more time to grab the wanted EPG information for some channels. I will do a final test with "store date ..." off + idle epg off and let start EPG by PowerScheduler++. PowerScheduller++ is supposed to do so this night at 3 o'clock. Tomorrow I can tell more.

The reason I've had to do it like this is because if I tick more than one channel, it grabs on the first one, which gives the EPG data for all channels, then grabs on the second one, grabbing the same data again and so on, which was making the grabbing take ages and by the time it had finished, it had reached the interval time and would start all over again  So I have to tick only one channel and then untick "Store only" so that it keeps all the data it's grabbed on the one pass for all the channels. This may well be a peculiarity of UK DVB-T Freeview though and this bug may not affect you.

I'm not sure how the PS++ grabbing options work but maybe they're just designed to allow you to set a time to wake the PC to grab and it still requires the idle EPG grabbing to be enabled as Lightning303 suggests.

    Hi there,

    Quick question...

Is running an external program when entering/leaving awaymode still supported?

When I put my HTPC to sleep (but it is busy) it goes into awaymode (logs show this too), but no external program is run.

I have the TVserver plugin configured to run an external CMD file (which is located in the Mediaportal directory - not the TVServer directory), but this is never run (it is run when not entering awaymode).

I will do more digging and post logs later.

    Thanks,

    J.

PS++ (like PS) wakes up your system and triggers all EPG grabbers, when the time for grabbing has come. But this will only happen, if there hasn't been a PS(++) scheduled EPG grabbing on the same day. Otherwise triggering will be postponed to the next schedule. So if you are experimenting with EPG schedules, it does not work if you test it e.g. for 10 am and then for 11 am - at 11 am there will be no grabbing since it already has been triggered at 10 o'clock on the same day. Only idle grabbing will run then.

The away mode option for external commands is available only on the client (PS++ client plugin).

    @michael_t
Thank you for this important information.
So if I analyse your aswer, the "grabbing function" can be called from the PowerScheduler++ plugin and "idle EPG grabbing" has not to be active. As I thought so. Can this "EPG grabbing on the same day" limitation be cheated on some or other way (delete scheduler task, database entry, ...) for test purposal ?

You can manually set the PowerSchedulerEPGConfig value in the "setting" table of the database to "", then start the tv server config and set a new schedule (it also gets lost by the deletion of the database value). Then try again..

    Thanks Michael. Nice to know.

So, I've tested EPG grabbing triggered by PowerScheduler++ again. Unfortunately the result is the same as I stated before.
Computer nicely woke up from sleep at the configured time. But no trace of activity concerning EPG grabbing. I suppose I have to see in the TV-server setup configuration and the "manual control" section a different state for at least one tuner and the state should set to something like "grabbing"? In the PowerScheduler++ plugin also "the standby prevented by" section should mention something like "EPG grabber"? This is not the case, so I asume the EPG grabber was not started.

I searched the EPG.log file. And look what's logged here:

    2013-02-18 22:05:20.834143 [PowerEventThread(8)]: EPG: grabber disabled

This is exactly the time EPG grabbing was set up in PowerScheduler++ for testing.
Now I'm again very confused and doubting about the earlier information that "idle epg grabbing" can be OFF.
Must we conclude that "idle epg grabbing" can't be OFF but must be ON to enable the inbuilt EPG grabber?
Maybe this is the ON / OFF swtich for the inbuilt EPG grabber?
If so, it's not so good.

If I switch on the "idle epg grabbing" after just a few seconds the EPG-grabber is active and the epg.log file is changed:

    2013-02-18 22:54:25.122726 [(5)]: EPG: grabber initialized for 78 transponders..
    2013-02-18 22:54:26.139855 [DVB EPG timer(4)]: Grab for card:#3 transponder #1/78 channel: 3sat HD
2013-02-18 22:54:26.140856 [DVB EPG timer(4)]: EpgCard: grab epg on card: #3 transponder: #0 ch:3sat HD
    2013-02-18 22:54:27.728057 [DVB EPG timer(4)]: EpgGrabbing: Start
    2013-02-18 22:54:27.733058 [DVB EPG timer(4)]: EpgCard: card: 3 starting to grab DVBS:tv:ZDFvision 3sat HD Freq:11347000 ONID:1 TSID:1010 SID:11150 PMT:0x1964 FTA:True LCN:10000 SymbolRate:22000 Modulation:Mod8Psk Polarisation:LinearV InnerFecRate:Rate2_3 DisEqc:None band:Universal Pilot:On RollOff:ThirtyFive

    ...

Could this be a bug or limitation? Not already reported? Maybe many people also use "idle EPG" grabbing. As I said before, this is also no problem in my system. Mabye many people use WEBEPG or XMLTV? I just want to use DVB-EPG.

    Some more information:
    - system: Windows 8 64 bit
    - Technotrend S2-3200 tuner

machine wont go to sleep ?

    Code:

    C:\Windows\system32>powercfg /requests

An active remote client has recently sent requests to this machine.

    al TV Server\TvService.exe (TVService)

    AWAYMODE:
    None.

any ideas what the [DRIVER] \FileSystem\srvnet might be?

edit - just found this and going to test results, point 5.

    edit 2 -
    Code:
    powercfg /requestspowercfgMicrosoft Windows [Version 6.1.7601]

but the system refuses to sleep, i set the time to 3 minutes and tried 15 minutes to no effect, left it on the home screen and left it with nothing running at all, again with no joy?

odd this is now being reported again -

Im having the same problem. I had it a little while ago and fixed it by turning off media sharing and homegroup on my win 8 pc but for some reason its happening again. I've also tried requesting the system to overide the request with

    powercfg -requestsoverride driver \FileSystem\srvnet system

but this doesnt seem to do anything. I have mapped drives on my pc from another computer on my network could this have something to do with it? Im not sure why it should though as i never used to have a problem
