Marcusb:
Good point. Maybe MP should have a screen-off state where it'll appear off, but if a recording is imminent or in progress, it won't hibernate/standby until that's over. If nothing's due within the Powerscheduler timeframe, then hibernate/standby.

Or, how about a compromise. How about showing an on-screen timer when the timer is about to run out (e.g. 1 minute to go before hibernation), and also some audio warning when it is fairly imminent (30 secs to go).

    Marcusb,

Do you really need the TV overlay in the home screen? I found it annoying and turned it off (in the skin set 'allowoverlay' to 'no'). That would solve your problem wouldn't it?

    Hi Zeko,
From your logs it seems that when MP shuts down the PC via powerscheduler it goes to stand by mode but when you use the remote it is using Hibernate. For the issue where the tuners (cam in particular) don't resume properly is it possible that the problem is to do with the stand by? Maybe if you set PS to Hibernate and see what results you get.

From what I understand, the issue is that when you let PS suspend your PC then the tuners don't start up correctly, but when you manually hibernate then the tuners start properly but the system doesn't wake up automatically. Is that correct?
Can you clarify that the system was working properly but when you upgraded to .2.2 it stopped working? This will rule out any underlying issues with USB devices if it's the case.

VdR - I could disable the overlay, but then I would lose all time shift information every time I went to the home screen. IE, even just checking a weather forecast would mean missing any TV information if I wan't 00% in real time.

    I see only three solutions:
    1) powerscheduler shuts down the PC even if the preview window is open when in home screen
    2) there was a way to enable a timeout for the preview window. Anything after 30 minutes then the window closes and allows PS to do it's thing? After all, it's called a "preview" window, not a "window to allow you to watch complete big screen TV programs in a very small box off to the side"
    3) ban my flat mate from using MP. Not an ideal soluiton as he would hate me. He has really grown to love MP over the past couple of years.

Does anyone know if there is a way to set a timeout in the xml for the preview window?
@mods, let me know if this has gone on too far and you want me to start a new thread. The only reason I haven't already done this is that I didn't see so much discussion as a result (as I said before).

    Hi Marcusb,

First I would like to thank you for taking a look at my log’s ! I’ll try
    to answer your questions below:

From what I understand, the issue is that when you let PS suspend your PC then the tuners don't start up correctly, but when you manually hibernate then the tuners start properly but the system doesn't wake up automatically. Is that correct?
Yes, this is correct ! However, since the PC doesn’t wake up correctly when suspending using the remote I have not done any further tests if the tuner initializes correctly.

Can you clarify that the system was working properly but when you upgraded to .2.2 it stopped working? This will rule out any underlying issues with USB devices if it's the case.
Unfortunately I can’t verify this. MP worked just fine using the old svn and no VFD (can’t remember which rev), then I installed the VFD to control MP using a remote but did not perform any powerscheduler tests. Shortly after I installed 2.2 and svn
    12503 and discovered the problem.

From your logs it seems that when MP shuts down the PC via powerscheduler it goes to stand by mode but when you use the remote it is using Hibernate.
This is very interesting since the PC is set to standby in the Windows Control Panel when pressing the power- and reset-button.

It’s obvious I have 2 kind of problems:
    - Powerscheduler does not resume the PC when suspending with the remote
    - Tuner do not initializes when resuming.

So I guess my next steps would be:
    1. I will verify if the tuner/CAM initializes correctly when suspending and resuming
    using the remote.
    2. I will set PS to use hibernate instead of standby.
