In Vista definetely YES. If you set Vista to go suspend after x minutes, and you are accessing a file from another PC (listening to music in my case), Vista doesn't go on sleep. And now, with disaster's or JBravo patches for Powerscheduler, this is also possible if you set powerscheduler to be responsible for suspend/resume jobs.
What I can't say now is what happens if you tell Vista to go on sleep manually (pressing button or using start->suspend) and at the same time you are accessing a network share from another computer. I can test it and report here later.
I think that Vista would go on sleep, because main change in suspend behabiour from XP to Vista is that in Vista is difficult to prevent suspend jobs for programmers, as Vista is going on sleep no matter what any process say... This is what I read somewhere these days...
