There is no rush, but when and if you get an opportunity to look at the logs I would appreciate any suggestions as to my next step
The video files are movie samples I copied to the MP2 folders that I intend to use as the media sources
Prior to scanning the TV channels MP2 could see the files but would not respond to trying to play them and would lock
Now it plays perfectly but locks if I try to show a TV channel
    Thank you for your help

    Hi,

I would suggest to start a completely new sequence to make sure that we are able to follow everything with adequate logs. As you installation is everything but ok, youmay as well start from scratch. Don't worry about TV channels, as you can import these from the existing MP1 setup.
    • Stop the MP2 Server (see context menu in tray app)
    • Delete (or rename) the folder C.\ProgramData\Team MediaPortal
      • If you have installed on the same PC, delete/rename the subfolders MP2 Server and MP2 Client
    • Just to be sure: do a repair install by running the MP2 Setup.exe again and choosing "Repair"
    • Open the client application
    • Set Log Verbosity to DEBUG (see Settings/General/System)
    • Do a basic setup of languages and online sources
    • Add one (!) media share path
If you have any trouble adding the share, then please don't try to continue but immediately post logs.

    Hi
Thank you for your help, it is much appreciated and I do apologise for taking up your time on this
My MP2 evaluation is setup on my old MediaPortal machine so its a Client & Server and no problems whatever I need to do
I have undertaken the re-install via Repair on the MP2 setup and it appears everything went OK
May I just confirm with you about the log setting
I do not have any log configuration available under the MP2 Client / Settings
I do have a setting in the TV server configuration application under TV Server Application / General / Application - Log Level
The Log Level is set to Debug here, Is this correct?
I will await confirmation on this step before proceeding
    Thanks again

The problem is that I do not have the 'Diagnostic' option under the MP2 Client Settings
Unless you advise otherwise, I will edit the Server & Client config.exe files as shown as the option for manual adjustment?

Then you are not running MP 2.1Pre2!

If you have Summer 16 installed, then please uninstall and download MP 2.1Pre2 from here. If you believe you do have a recent version installed, uninstall it anyway. Then run the installer and start again.

I downloaded the version from the MediaPortal main website
It is the version Summer 16 because I would always download what looks like the "stable" version and avoid the beta's because I do not have the development skills
I'm hoping this may get me a bit further

That seems to have done the trick
Everything is working as I would expect and the one media source I set connected and played the movie perfectly first time
Do you wish me to send the logs?
If not I will continue and set up the system

Continued with setup and the system tuned the TV card without any problems
It would seem that it is not happy with my media sources and continues to lock up now and again
I have yet to undertake fine tuning of TV channels and codecs etc
Logs were taken after initial setup and after lock ups and I have attached them
If they provide any clues to the problem I would appreciate any recommendations
Thank you for your very kind help
    Regards
