that's kind of funny in a bad way.
The MS MCE European remote only works for European countries that speak English.

Considering the number of Europeans on this forum, you would think that this would have popped up before.

Glad it's all working though.

That's quite unique to France only, all other European keyboards have numbers enabled by default. So it's no European problem, but a French problem only, as it seems. But yes, funny, I never heard of such either. Sounds quite weird, huh?
