Have just noticed some issues when recording to mpg rather than to TS

Some HDTV channels record but with no sound. Other HD channels wouldnt record. Not sure if maybe the ones that didnt record were being broadcast in 1080i or of a higher resolution than the ones that did

Also when using powerscheduler to wake from sleep and record, High Definition channel did not record any picture or audio. There is a recording there for it but when play back just black and no sound

Changed back to ts recording and all these problems went away

Would it have something to do with the mpg codec? Which codec would it be using to record to mpg? Would it be using the default codec used for playback?

Thanks!

I am havign similar issue. I tried record from BEV HD (shrek the third) and if I record in mpeg, the recording play back with no soundl. Also the vidoe is little choppy. Live playback is smooth.

Recording to TS and playing back from the recording was even more choppy. I am using Nvidia PureVideo decoder and AMD X2 3800+ with Nvidia 6150.

No, Nothing changed after disabling hardware acceleration. I heard this being issue for a while so not sure if this is something specific to my setup.
I was using VMR9.

Have worked out my issue.

Discovered with my DVB-T card I still cannot record to mpg. I can only record to ts

However it seems I can record to mpg for my DVB-S card for encrypted sat channels. It records to mpg and plays back fine.

Actually with the DVB-S card found if I did record to TS when recording after a wakeup the recording does not play in MP. However the video file plays fine when playback in media player or some other player

So for my DVB-T card can only record to TS otherwise get the problems with no audio or no video/audio

for my DVB-S card can record to TS but vids recorded after wakeup dont playback in MP so can record DVB-S to MPG and works fine all the time..

Wierd.. Must be something to do with the cards?

would love to know what process is used to record to mpeg rather than ts.

After my new install (Vista + TVE3), setup recording options 1 card ts and 1 mpeg, every recording failed with 0 bytes files produced for mpeg, as you stated ts fine.

Can live with the ts recordings not a problem, but as you said, does seem to be the way the hardware\drivers connect, or more to the point do not.

This is with a Hauppauge T500, may even be manufacturer orientated for all i know.

I'm having problem recording to .mpg

Works like a sharm to ts format but only a empty file and the xml file is created when TV-server is configured to record inmpg format.

installed on a 2003 server and got a firedtv card.

    Works nicely outherwise.

    Any ideas??`

i did read some problems with mediaportal and 2003 server.

Only thing I could suggest is try changing codecs? I'm using Nvidia ones

Thats a good point, you dont configure codecs in server only in the client for playback..

hmmm wouldnt be a codec issue then
what cam are you using and what encryption is it? Im using Irdeto CAM and enryption.

    What are your system specs?

Otherwise do a search here for windows 2003 and see if you can find what issues it has
