Worked out what my issue was, and it was related to my Harmony remote. It appears that if I send a button press while the machine is resuming (in my case I was sending a LiveTV to start tv automatically) it would intermittently cause the ehome reciever to "hang".
I've changed my startup sequence to start the MP box last (after amp, TV etc.) and not to automatically go into MyTV.
Since making these changes it has been 100% OK.
So if you have a programable "macro" style remote, ensure that you're not sending ehome requests while the box is resuming.
