My personal opinion about that is, we'll take our time until the final release of MP2. I'm very perfectionist, so I'm not happy to release a product with missing features. But as you can see in the Alpha version, there are so many features missing that it will take us years to add them all. We don't have a real stand-alone configuration utility, the installer needs rework, the server needs rework, we need many plugins, etc. etc.
But we will release some "intermediate build" versions which will reflect the current development state.

When it comes to stability, I would say the product is already quite usable and gets better and better with each fix of reported problems.

But I guess we'll have many team internal discussions about that topic, so what I said is only my personal opinion.

I hope you are wrong! I can not live years without mp2

MP2 has a more up to date design. I hope that the team will move as much resources as possible from MP1 to MP2.
I am happy with MP1 but is too delicate: install a new plugin is a plug and pray process and the you need to really plan in advance a configuration before implement it (talking about multiseat with media stored in different locations). In this situation installing MP1 looks like an ERP project more than a media center adventure.

I undertand that many users love the huge library of plugin, but i would prefer few really stable ones respect a wide choice of unreliable applications that my conflict each other.

    Your friendly MP2 fan ;)

    Ciao

I would be happy to start using MP2 as standard htpc if i could "1. use my Remote fully" and "2. handle recordings from gui".

I think we would se more switching from MP1 to MP2 if these few basic features where availlable.

    Just my personal guess.

I'd also like to see the ability to delete files.

    You now can both:
    • remote control is supported by the IRSS server, at least all basic navigation and playback control stuff. For download check the plugin dev subforum.
    • with the v03 update of slimtv you get simple scheduling from tvguide and some more improvements
    check it out :)

I my opinion the available core is already very stable and I do not expect such huge changes that might break plugins completly. The modular structure makes changes and extension easy.

May be you should coordinate the development of community plugins as soon as the basic features(media playing and stuff) is working "perfectly".
Yes, indeed! It's absolutely neccessary to attract plugin developers to port/create some new plugins for MP2. Offbyone already did this with OnlineVideos, which is great already.

There are currently many improvements in the pipeline, i.e. more metadata for mediaitems (like series information which can be used for plugins like TvSeries), or to extend skinning possibilities using shader effects...

    Hi morpheus

Im using Girder for mapping remote commands to MP1 and MP2.
It works fine for almost every command: left, right, up, down, play, stop, enter and back.

But i need the menu to be mapped also (right click on mouse). Are there any way of doing this with a remote command from Girder or can this be done/do i need IRSS to do this ?

    Regards
