My personal opinion about that is, we'll take our time until the final release of MP2. I'm very perfectionist, so I'm not happy to release a product with missing features. But as you can see in the Alpha version, there are so many features missing that it will take us years to add them all. We don't have a real stand-alone configuration utility, the installer needs rework, the server needs rework, we need many plugins, etc. etc.
But we will release some "intermediate build" versions which will reflect the current development state.
When it comes to stability, I would say the product is already quite usable and gets better and better with each fix of reported problems.
But I guess we'll have many team internal discussions about that topic, so what I said is only my personal opinion.
You now can both:I would be happy to start using MP2 as standard htpc if i could "1. use my Remote fully" and "2. handle recordings from gui".
I think we would se more switching from MP1 to MP2 if these few basic features where availlable.
Just my personal guess.
I my opinion the available core is already very stable and I do not expect such huge changes that might break plugins completly. The modular structure makes changes and extension easy.i agrees Alberts post
alberts time to time releases are ok to show what is available.
but the base must standing before and media playing is not the only thing what mp2 need
i think we should give albert the time what he need , that we an good base become
Yes, indeed! It's absolutely neccessary to attract plugin developers to port/create some new plugins for MP2. Offbyone already did this with OnlineVideos, which is great already.May be you should coordinate the development of community plugins as soon as the basic features(media playing and stuff) is working "perfectly".
