Jay_UK - thank you.
Please explain how this can be done.
1.) IRSS -> IRSS will put MP to sleep
2.) IRSS -> System will go to sleep (Windows function, what happens if you press power button)
3.) iMon Manager -> System will go to sleep (Windows function, what happens if you press power button)
4.) ....

Why is IRSS part of this at all? Software has nothing to do with it.

The imon remote receiver uses hardware signals to the motherboard for the power button command. You press the power button on the remote and it replicates a hardware button press.

Tell your remote to send the imon power button signal. Tell your PC to sleep when you press the power button on your case.

I have s3 (standby) enabled in my bios and Wake on USB also. Then set the power button to go to s3 when pressed(windows setting). Using my MCE remote I can turn my htpc on and off with my MCE remote.

Hi, I use MP for (I think) 3 years now. The only thing that makes me crazy is my remote control.
    ...
I disabled the powerbutton action in windows.
    ...
But my first problem was, that putting my HTPC to sleep didn't work anymore, because the Power Button doesn't put my HTPC to sleep.

re-enable power button in windows, so that your remote can put your HTPC to sleep, problem solved.

    Wonderful,
3 people using System function to put htpc to sleep and do not use Powerscheduler Idle Time to put htpc to sleep.
That's a complete different approach, than other mentioned in this thread. It's seems there is no official best practice approach.

    Walzing....

I think you are missing the idea...

PowerScheduler(++) handles shutdown/sleep after a preconfigured idle period
Power button shutdowns/sleeps when you press it

    Both are used...and very useful

I heard I should not use this - I should always let MP handle standby.

I didn't say that you should always let MP handle standby. I said that it's more stable and (if you use MP to record) it'll automatically wake up the system @ the time the recording starts. Letting the PowerScheduler handle S3 state means less change of missing a recording.

So... if you don't record, or have a dedicated TV server running 24/7, there's no problem with putting your system into standby with the remote button. ;)

thats it! the problem is somehow imon/software/sensor indicatet!
all people wich i know and wich use an mce or an harmony wich is programmed as harmony, dosn t have this problem.
    and for the protocoll:
to put the htpc by pressing with correct button on the remote to sleep, was even working bevor i have mediaportal installed!
its a kind of basic funcionality. the only thing you have to do for it, is to configure that the htpc should go into standby, if you press the correct button for it.
this works like i said, even bevor mediportal is installed!
if everything is done like jay said, then powerscheduler is handling the job.
    anyway, i wish good luck.
but i keep on my sugestion: buy an mce compatible sensor and programm your harmony as mce and your problems should be solved.
it saves money (spending much live-time has also a value/money) and nerves:)

    best regards

    But I want to....

My next test will be, Harmony as MCE and IMON IR as MCE Receiver.
